Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett appoints Michelle Lowe as Human Resources Director

Lowe has served as the Montgomery County Diversity and Training Officer since February 2020 and served as the interim director of human resources from August through mid-December 2020.

Tennessee Department of Health reports 970 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, March 5th, 2021

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 653,053 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus as of Friday, March 5th, 2021. That is an increase of 970 cases from Thursday’s 652,083. There have been 9,272 (+24) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

S I X T Y   O N E   new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus have been reported in Montgomery County. The total is 17,505. Two of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 213 deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus. There were 303 tests given with 14 positive results for a 4.6 percent positive.

Leading Through Black Excellence by APSU: David Davenport

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – David Davenport has been a very active and vital member of the community during his time in Clarksville. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, he moved here in March 2003, when he accepted a position at Austin Peay State University (APSU) as director of University Recreation.

Over the years, he has served the campus in several capacities. In 2015, he was appointed the chief diversity officer (CDO), holding dual positions of CDO (part-time) and director of University Recreation.

NASA has selected Mars Ascent Propulsion System for Mars Sample Return

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – NASA has awarded the Mars Ascent Propulsion System (MAPS) contract to Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation of Elkton, Maryland, to provide propulsion support and products for spaceflight missions at the agency’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Coupled with the successful touchdown of the Mars Perseverance rover, this award moves NASA and ESA (European Space Agency) one step closer to realizing Mars Sample Return (MSR), a highly ambitious planetary exploration program that will build upon decades of science, knowledge, and experience of Mars exploration.
