Austin Peay (4-1) took the early advantage in doubles play, with Fabienne Schmidt and Danielle Morris winning the No. 1 match to pick up their fifth-straight win as a duo to start the season.

But North Alabama would picked up a win over Jana Leder and Aleks Topalovic in the No. 2 doubles match, before beating Ana Albertson and Honoka Nakanishi in the No. 3 match to claim the doubles point.

Trailing 1-0 at the start of singles action, Schmidt wasted no time evening the score and quickly picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 1 singles tilt to tie the match at one. Then in the No. 5 singles match, Topalovic bounced back from a loss in doubles play to pick up a win and put the Govs in front, 2-1.

The No. 2 singles match was the next off the court and Morris picked up her second-straight win to stretch the Austin Peay advantage to 3-1 in the match. Finally, Leder picked up the match-clinching point for the Governors with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win over North Alabama’s Megan Humphrey’s on the No. 3 singles line.

With the win in hand for the Govs, the No. 4 and No. 6 singles matches were left unfinished. Martina Paladini-Jennings split the first two sets of the No. 4 match and trailed 1-0 early in the third set. Albertson had dropped the first set of the No. 6 match in a tiebreaker, before bouncing back to win the second set 6-2.
