Marsha Blackburn, Richard Blumenthal Call Out NCAA’s Unequal Treatment of Female Athletes

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), whose home state collegiate women’s basketball teams— the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers and the UConn Huskies—have won a combined nineteen national championships, lambasted the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for its failures to provide female athletes the same level of access to COVID-19 Coronavirus screenings, training equipment, and facilities as their male counterparts during this month’s basketball tournaments.

Tennessee Department of Health reports 607 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, March 30th, 2021

Nashville, TN – On Tuesday, March 30th, 2021, the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 673,094 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus. That is an increase of 607 cases from Monday’s 672,487. There have been 9,534 (+18) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

There have been   T H I R T Y   S I X   new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus reported in Montgomery County. The total is 18,348. Five of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 221 (+1) deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus. There were 189 tests given with 30 positive results for a 15.9 percent positive.

Mayor’s Youth Council COVID-19 remembrance event location moved

 

Ceremony moves to As the River Flows Museum at McGregor Park

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The Mayor’s Youth Council will convene from 10:00am to noon Friday, April 2nd, 2021 at McGregor Park to remember the 220 local lives lost to COVID-19 Coronavirus in Montgomery County.

The Youth Council will place flags in front of McGregor Park’s As the River Flows Museum from 10:00am-11:00am and invite members of the community to join them at 11:00am for a short ceremony.

AAA reports National Gas Price Average falls on the Week for First Time in Months

 

AAAWashington, D.C. – At $2.86, the national average has decreased week-over-week for the first time since November of last year. Today’s average is two cents cheaper on the week. Since last Monday, 45 states also saw their averages decrease or no change at the pump.

“Growing stock levels and cheaper crude oil prices are putting downward pressure on pump prices for the majority of motorists,” said Jeanette McGee, AAA spokesperson.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Tennis loses at Belmont

 

APSU Men's TennisNashville, TN – Playing in a match that was rescheduled from Saturday, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis fell to Belmont, 7-0, Monday at the Belmont Tennis Complex.

The Bruins grabbed the early advantage, sweeping the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
