APSU Baseball gets blanked by Southern Illinois

 

APSU BaseballCarbondale, IL – The Austin Peay State (APSU) University’s baseball team could not solve a pack of Southern Illinois pitchers and ended its road trip by falling 15-0, Tuesday night at Itchy Jones Stadium.

Southern Illinois (21-6) entered the game looking to snap out of a stretch that saw it drop five of its last six.

Marsha Blackburn introduces Legislation Targeting Beijing’s Influence at American Colleges

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) along with Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) introduced the Transparency for Confucius Institutes Act.

Confucius Institutes, which are run and paid for by the CCP, currently operate at 55 American colleges and universities. They allow China to discretely influence what college students are taught about topics like Hong Kong and Tiananmen Square and impede freedom of speech on campus.

Austin Peay State University Softball takes two from Murray State

 

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team saw its season-long win streak reach eight games after sweeping an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader versus Murray State, Tuesday afternoon at Cathi Maynard Park-Cheryl Holt Field, as the Govs outlasted the Racers 4-3 in 10 innings in the opener, before pulling away for a 12-6 victory in the nightcap.

Representative Mark Green Reintroduces Protecting Gold Star Spouses Act

 

U.S. House of RepresentativesWashington, D.C. – Monday, on Gold Star Spouses Day, U.S. Representative Green introduced the Protecting Gold Star Spouses Act. The bill, which Green introduced previously in the 116th Congress, ensures that no Gold Star family will ever miss a payment during a lapse in Federal appropriations.

Representative Green said, “It’s our duty and our honor to take care of America’s Gold Star spouses and families. Our Gold Star spouses and families should never worry about whether the Federal government will fulfill its obligation to them—even during a lapse in appropriations or government shutdown. Tennessee Department of Health reports 602 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, April 6th, 2021

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 678,220 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus as of Tuesday, April 6th, 2021. That is an increase of 602 cases from Monday’s 677,618. There have been 9,604 (+29) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

There have been  T H I R T Y   F I V E   new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus reported in Montgomery County. The total is 18,652. One of the new cases reported today was in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 223 (+2) deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus. There were 133 tests given with 22 positive results for a 16.5 percent positive.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department reports Pollard Road water main line flushing

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Gas and Water Department (CGW) is performing water main line flushing on Pollard Road which may cause low water pressure for residents between Lennox Road and the Pollard Road Trailhead.

The water line flushing is anticipated to be finished and water service fully restored by approximately 12:30pm.
