Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds got back-to-back home runs from Jamie Westbrook and Tim Lopes on their way to a convincing 9-4 win over the visiting Indianapolis Indians on Wednesday night at First Horizon Park.
Westbrook’s two-run blast came in the bottom of the fourth inning and Lopes followed with a solo shot of his own to give the Sounds a comfortable 9-0 lead.
The offense was firing on all cylinders early in the game with two runs in the first inning and four in the second to build an early lead. Following a 1-2-3 top of the first inning by Nashville starter Josh Lindblom, Jake Hager and Derek Fisher ignited the offense with back-to-back doubles to make it 1-0.
Clarksville Christian School announces Jennifer Lawrence hired as Lady Centurion Head Volleyball Coach
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Christian School is excited to welcome Texas native and veteran coach, Jennifer Lawrence, as the new Head Volleyball Coach for the Lady Centurions.
Jennifer Lawrence is coming to CCS from Lubbock Christian University, where she has most recently served as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. In addition to her role coaching volleyball, she will also serve as Assistant Athletic Director and as a member of the CCS Administrative Team.

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Legislative Liaison Committee has begun the process of developing the 2022 Legislative Agenda for lawmakers in Nashville. This agenda includes items specific to issues in Montgomery County and the State of Tennessee that need to be addressed.
To gather as much input as possible, Montgomery County is asking employees, community organizations, and county residents to submit legislative items for consideration.
Nashville Pitcher is the Second Sounds Player to Win a Weekly Award in 2021
Nashville, TN – Minor League Baseball announced today that Nashville Sounds pitcher Aaron Ashby has been named Triple-A East Pitcher of the Week for his play from May 31-June 6. Ashby joins Tyrone Taylor as Sounds players to win a weekly league honor in 2021.
Ashby’s lone start during the week was on Friday, June 4th at the Charlotte Knights. The 23-year-old struck out a season-high 11 batters and allowed one unearned run on two hits in seven innings. Unfortunately, Ashby was tagged with a tough-luck loss in Nashville’s 1-0 setback.
Austin Peay State University’s LaNeeça Williams named to state’s Maxine Smith Fellows leadership program
Clarksville, TN – LaNeeça R. Williams, chief diversity officer and Title IX coordinator at Austin Peay State University (APSU), is among the 21 faculty and staff members from colleges and universities across Tennessee selected to participate in the 2021-22 Class of the Maxine Smith Fellows program.
Washington, D.C. – After ten days of stability, the national gas price average increased a penny over the weekend to $3.05. On the week, the majority of states’ (26) gas price averages either increased by one cent or saw no movement.
Only two states saw prices increase a nickel or more. Prices are poised to fluctuate in the coming week, especially in light of a recent drop in demand.
