Lexington, KY – The Austin Peay State University track and field team wrapped up its fourth indoor meet of the season Saturday with a strong showing at the Rod McCravy Memorial.
Against some of the nation’s top competition like Florida, Baylor, Michigan, and Ohio State, the Govs registered five top-ten finishes along with seven top-15 finishes.
Senior Mikaela Smith shined on the track on day one of the competition, earning a top-ten finish in the 600-meter dash. Smith finished tenth with a career-best time of 1:34.99, placing ahead of runners from Maryland, Howard, and Alabama State. The tenth-place finish matched the best finish in the 600-meter event in her career.
Kicking off day two, reigning back-to-back OVC Female Athlete of the Week Kenisha Phillips placed 14th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.16. Phillips placed ahead of top competition from Minnesota, Purdue, Baylor, and Michigan.
In the field on Saturday, senior Kori McDaniel earned her second top-ten finish of the season, placing ninth in the shot put with a mark of 13.26 meters. McDaniel registered the mark on her third attempt after throwing 12.63, 12.40, and 13.14 meters.

Triple Jump
- Senior Lennex Walker finished 12th with a mark of 11.23 meters.
Sprints
60 meters
- Kenisha Phillips placed fifth in her heat and 26th overall with a time of 7.62.
200 meters
- Phillips registered a season-best time of 24.12 to finish seventh.
800 meters
- Mikaela Smith ran a 2:15.72 to finish 14th. It was the second-fastest mark of the season for Smith in the 800 meters.
