Youth DreamChaser’s Olympics

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – May 31st, 2014 marked the conclusion of the 2013 – 2014 DreamChasers Program with a Youth Olympics competition between the 4 mentoring sites. This after school program is in its 2nd year and is a partnership between Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the LEAP Organization.

The purpose of this event was to unite youth enrolled in DreamChasers at the LEAP Plaza, Burt Cobb, Kleeman, and Crow Community Centers to participate in a competition that fostered team work and health/wellness while developing pride in their community. The games that the youth competed in were the Water Balloon Relay, Fitness Challenge, Basketball Shoot Out, Scooter Relay, and Rock Wall Climb Relay with the Crow Community Center under the leadership of Site Lead Jacqueline Irons winning 3 of the events to take home 1st Place.

LEAP Informational Meeting for Youth Summer Trip to New Orleans Rescheduled

 

L.E.A.P. OrganizationClarksville, TN – Last week due to the inclement weather, the Leap Organization postponed it’s informational meeting for the Youth Educational Excursion to New Orleans.

The next meeting will be help this Wednesday, March 12th at 5:00pm at the Leap Plaza located at 1860 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

Clarksville Youth Educational Excursion

 

Clarksville's Leap of Faith MinistriesSt Louis, MO – Youth from Clarksville, Tennessee embarked on an educational excursion that began with the Missouri Historical Museum where they learned about the Missouri’s rich history and viewed the NFL Hall of Fame exhibits.

The next day the group went on a walking guided tour around them Arch prior to taking the tram to take in St Louis from the top followed by a Riverboat cruise. Upon disembarking the group visited the Historical Courthouse where the Dred Scott Trail took place and were able to participate in the reenactment of the trial.

Customs House Museum to hold Sunday Family Fun: Rowing through Tennessee, June 30th

 

Update: Clarksville Online has been notified by the Customs House Museum that this event has been canceled, “Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, the Sunday Family Fun: Rowing through Tennessee program has been cancelled.”

The Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – On Sunday, June 30th, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center will hold Family Fun Day: Rowing through Tennessee from 1:00apm until 5:00pm.

LEAP Skate Night

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – The LEAP Organization is hosting a Skate Night at Magic Wheels  on Thursday, May 19th from 6:00pm to 8:30pm to raise funds so that At-Risk Youth can participate in a Community Wide Youth trip to Washington, D.C.

The purpose of this trip is to provide our youth with an opportunity to journey through our past and see history in the making through an historical and relevant tour of the Capitol.

LEAP Accepting Students for Intern Program

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – The LEAP Organization is calling middle & high school students to begin the orientation/intake process to become a LEAP Intern. Beginning April 6th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm students will meet at the Emmanuel Family Life Center.

Each Wednesday students will be assigned an individual task to be completed by the following Wednesday. After completing the indoctrination process, students will earn the title of Intern and be eligible for scholarships, job shadowing opportunities, and additional incentives.

LEAP preps students through Internet based scavenger hunt

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – On Wednesday, March 2nd 2011 students from the LEAP Intern program participated in a collegiate Internet trivia based scavenger hunt. “The objective of the exercise was to familiarize students with utilizing the Internet to research college majors, requirements, fun interesting facts about various schools,” says, Tamira Cole, President of the LEAP Organization Board of Directors.
