Montgomery Central Indians rally comes up short in 54-51 loss to Stewart County Rebels

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – Down by as many as 16 points in the first half, January 22nd at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, Montgomery Central High School’s boys basketball team had two shots to tie the game in the final seconds, but couldn’t find the mark in a 54-51 District 11-AA loss to Stewart County High School.

Montgomery Central (9-10, 5-6 District 11-AA) still trailed by nine points, 51-42, with 1:37 left in the game, but baskets by Lamont Smith and Alex Norfleet – sandwiched around two missed free throws by Stewart County – followed by a three-point bucket by Dalton Perkins got the Indians back to a two-point game, 51-49, with 48 second left.

Montgomery Central Indians move above .500 with 52-51 overtime win over Hickman County

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – Two free throws from Dalton Perkins and a last-second miss by Hickman County High School, January 9th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, sealed away a 52-51 District 11-AA overtime victory for the Montgomery Central High School Indians to move them above .500 on the season and in district play.

Perkins’ two free throws for Montgomery Central (7-6, 3-2 District 11-AA) came after the Bulldogs Nathan Clinard had given Hickman County a one-point lead, 51-50, with 31.1 seconds left.

Montgomery Central Indians power past South Haven 64-46

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolDover, TN – Montgomery Central High School’s Trey Burney scored 16 first-quarter points, December 28th at the Bill Craig Memorial Gymnasium in the second day of the Stewart County High School Christmas Classic, to help power the Indians past the South Haven Christian School, 64-46.

Among Burney’s 16 points in the first stanza for Montgomery Central (6-5) were four 3s, as the point guard finished with a game-high 25 points.

Big second half by Austin Fisher leads Clarksville Academy Cougars past Montgomery Central

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsDover, TN – Clarksville Academy’s Austin Fisher scored 21 of his game-high 30 points after intermission, December 27th at the Bill Craig Memorial Gymnasium in the first day of the Stewart County High School Christmas Classic, to lead the Cougars past the Montgomery Central High School Indians, 54-37.

Fisher came out on fire to open the second half, almost doubling his point total for the game with eight points in the first 2:30 of the period – including two 3s, to give the Cougars (4-6) a 30-25 lead.

Montgomery Central Indians rally from 15 down to beat Clarksville Academy 48-47

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – A Justin Cowan layup in the final 15 seconds, followed with a blocked shot right before the final horn, sealed away a 15-point come-from-behind victory for Montgomery Central High School, December 12th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, as they edged Clarksville Academy, 48-47.

The Cowan layup for Montgomery Central (3-3) came after Clarksville Academy’s Thomas Jackson had given the Cougars the lead, 47-46 with 22.9 seconds left, after hitting on of two free throw attempts.
