Nashville Sounds lose to Albuquerque Isotopes 7-4 on Memorial Day at Greer Stadium

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Despite erasing a two-run deficit late in the game, the Nashville Sounds lost 7-4 to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Memorial Day at Greer Stadium. The loss gives Albuquerque the 3-1 series win.

After the Sounds tied it up 4-4 in the seventh, the visiting team quickly recaptured the lead with a three-run double from Alfredo Amezaga in the top of the ninth. Albuquerque used a fielder’s choice and two hits off reliever Tim Dillard (0-1) to set the table for Amezaga’s game-winning hit.

Tyler Thornburg Earns Second Win For Nashville

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Sean Halton and Taylor Green each belted a three-run homer to power the Nashville  Sounds to a 7-3 victory over the division-rival Iowa Cubs on Tuesday evening at Greer Stadium.

The win was the fourth in the last five games for Nashville (65-73). In the contest, the Sounds’ two through five hitters combined to go 9-for-13 with seven RBIs and seven runs scored.

Nashville Sounds drop close one to Iowa Cubs 3-2

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds snapped a four-game winning streak by falling to the division-rival Iowa Cubs, 3-2, in the finale of a four-game set at Greer Stadium.

It was a pretty good crowd for a Tuesday, as 7,881 fans took in the loss then watched the Sounds’ Independence Day fireworks spectacular following the on-field action.

With the loss, the Sounds (36-40) took three of four from the Cubs in the series. Nashville was held to five hits on the evening and went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Nashville Sounds beat Iowa Cubs 4-3 at Greer Stadium Saturday Night

 

Seth McClung Authors Solid Start, Eric Farris Belts First Homer Of Year In Victory

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds right-hander Seth McClung worked his team-leading sixth quality start and Eric Farris belted his first home run of the year to lead the Sounds to a 4-3 win over division-rival Iowa Cubs on a sweltering Saturday evening at Greer Stadium, where game time temperature was 104 degrees.

With the victory, Nashville (34-49) pulled even with Iowa into a second-place tie in the PCL American Conference Northern Division, the Sounds’ highest point in the standings all season. Both clubs trail first-place Omaha Storm Chasers by 17.5 games, however.

The win was Nashville’s league-leading 18th one-run victory of the season.

Nashville Sounds get mauled by Iowa Cubs 14-2

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – PCL home run leader Anthony Rizzo belted a pair of longballs and drove in four runs to power the Iowa Cubs to a 14-3 triumph over the Nashville Sounds on Sunday afternoon at Principal Park in the finale of a six-game series.

Eight of Iowa’s 15 hits on the day went for extra bases, including four home runs. The I-Cubs won four of the six contests in the series against the Sounds (24-40).

Cubs catcher Juan Apodaca joined Rizzo with four RBIs on the day and also homered.

Nashville Sounds’ losing streak hits 10 with 7-1 loss to Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds walked a season-high eight batters in an 8-1 loss to the division-rival Iowa Cubs on Thursday night at Principal Park in the opener of a four-game series.

The defeat extended Nashville’s losing streak to 10 games, which is its longest since the Sounds joined the Pacific Coast League in 1998. Nashville’s 4-17 record is the worst among the 30 Triple-A clubs in 2012 and is the worst in club history through 21 games of action.

Sounds Split Twinbill In Colorado Springs

 

Nashville Blows Out Sky Sox In Opener, Falls In Finale

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds split a doubleheader against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Thursday evening at Security Service Field, triumphing 19-0 in the opener before falling 9-6 in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Sounds blew out the Sky Sox, 19-0, and tied a team record by legging out 24 hits in the game, including a season-high five home runs in the seven-inning contest. It marked the Sounds’ first five-homer effort since August 2008.  All three of the Sounds’ 24-hit outbursts in club history have occurred in Colorado Springs.
