Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Golf finishes seventh at F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Sophomore Jessica Cathey and senior Rachel Deaton each posted a top-five finish but it wasn’t enough to move Austin Peay State University women’s golf team forward and it settled for a seventh-place finish at its own F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, Tuesday, at the Clarksville Country Club.

Harris earns first-team All-OVC golf for third straight

Austin Peay State University GovernorsDickson, TN – Senior Austin Peay State University golfer Chelsea Harris has selected first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference for a third straight year.

Her selection was announced Thursday night at the annual banquet following first-round OVC tournament play, for a second straight year being played at GreyStone Golf Club.

Murray State’s Delaney Howson has been named the 2010-11 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year for women’s golf. That award, along with the All-OVC and All-Newcomer squads, were announced Thursday. The OVC Player and Coach of the Year awards will be announced Saturday afternoon following the final-round play at the championship.

Lady Govs golf to begin quest for first OVC championship, Thursday

Austin Peay State University GovernorsDickson, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will take a trio of seniors, a junior and a freshman to GreyStone Golf Club this week in its bid to claim its first Ohio Valley Conference championship.

The 54-hole tournament begins Thursday morning on the par-72, 6,049-yard layout on the Mark McCumber-designed course opened in 1998. This is the second straight year the OVC has played its championship on the Dickson course. Murray State is the two-time defending champion.

Team of Campbell/Tuck/Glassell/Spell run away with Saturday portion of Governors Golf Classic

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsThe team of Bret Campbell/Joey Tuck/Brad Glassell/Randy Spell ran away with the Saturday portion of the 24th Annual Governors Golf Classic, played at Swan Lake Golf Course.

That quartet shot an impressive 22-under par 49 in the scramble.

On the women’s side, which covered both Friday and Saturday, the team of Britney Campbell/Amanda Phillips/Jeanette Kramer/Carla Hazelwood, which played Friday, won first place at -16 to ease by the Saturday team of Beth Goodowens/Missy Rye/Margaret Jones/Jane Stevens, who -12.

On the men’s side, a scorecard playoff settled second place as the team of Jake Peterson/George Plaster/David Shipley/Dave Loos came in at -19 but shot a 24 on the back nine. That allowed that group to slip past the group of Wayne Ard/Conn Butts/Joe Douglas/Bob Thomps, who also shot a -19 but had a 25 on the back nine.
