Vollyball’s Cecily Gable named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore outside hitter Cecily Gable, of the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Gable was named Tournament MVP at The Citadel’s Bulldog Invitational last week, posting 55 kills and a .322 attack percentage for the tournament.

The Memphis native posted career-highs in kills in three straight contests—16 against Charleston Southern, Friday, followed by 17 in Saturday contests against Elon and Savannah State.

Austin Peay State University’s Breigh Jones named Athletic of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Junior sprinter Breigh Jones, of the Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Jones emerged from last weekend’s 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with some serious hardware, earning two gold medals and two silver medals alongside her 2015 OVC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year honor. She led Austin Peay to a third-place finish in the first OVC Track and Field Championship hosted by Austin Peay since 2001.

Kymmalett Ross named APSU Athletic of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Junior sprinter Kymmalett Ross, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

In Austin Peay’s first weekend of indoor competition, Ross stood out by winning 55m and 200m dashes at the MT Christmas Invitational, Saturday, setting personal-bests in both events with a 7.12 in the 55 and a 24.63 in the 200 – the latter being a tenth of a second behind the school record. She also contributed to Austin Peay’s 3:52.52 mark in the 4x400m relay in Murfreesboro, where the Lady Govs came in second to the host Blue Raiders. «Read the rest of this article»

Jake Ryan is APSU Athlete of the Week, November 13th, 2012

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Senior quarterback Jake Ryan, of the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Ryan re-wrote the Austin Peay record book, Saturday, against Jacksonville State. He was 40-of-61 passing – setting Austin Peay records for pass completions and attempts – for a career-high 375 yards and three touchdowns.

Austin Peay Athlete of the Week Nikki Doyle, October 16th 2012

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Senior Nikki Doyle, of Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Doyle set an Austin Peay record with a 34-kill performance in a five-set victory against Middle Tennessee, Wednesday. It was only the third 30-kill performance in Austin Peay history and surpassed Sarah Schramka’s 31-kill match against Eastern Kentucky in 2002.

Whitney Hanley named Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityWhitney HanleyClarksville, TN – Whitney Hanley, a senior on the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Mt. Washington, KY, native recorded her fourth consecutive 20-point outing to begin Ohio Valley Conference play with a 26-point performance against Murray State, Saturday.
