Instant Peay Play: Former APSU Baseball Gov Tyler Rogers makes history in call up to the big leagues
Clarksville, TN – When Tyler Rogers got the call he had been waiting for from the San Francisco Giants letting him know that he was finally going to get his shot to pitch in the major leagues, a little over a week ago after almost seven seasons tolling around in the minor leagues, the former Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball player also became a part of Major League history.
In making it to the Giants major league roster, Tyler joins his twin brother Taylor (pitcher for the Minnesota Twins) as only the 10th pair of twin brothers in history to both play in the Major Leagues and only the eighth overall to do so in the same year.

Clarksville, TN – Some of the best times I’ve had on my motorcycle have been in my own back yard. Living in Tennessee presents me with beautiful countryside, navigated on back country roads for miles and miles. I’m able to cross up into Kentucky, or down to Alabama and the roads and beautiful scenery just keep unfolding in front of me.
When I bought my first Harley last year, I traveled to San Marcos Texas. The first leg of my trip was to travel down Highway 79 and keep off of the Interstate. I discovered beautiful roads, amazing countryside, quaint little towns and miles and miles of open road.
Before I knew it, I was in Memphis.
Jackson, TN – During a family vacation this summer, my family and I were blessed to meet a remarkable young man named Dusty Stanfill. He was born facing challenges that most of us couldn’t imagine. You can read his story here. I remember that all he talked about was his beloved baseball team, the Jackson Generals.
Since returning from vacation, I had been trying to figure out a way to pay him a visit, so what better way than to surprise him at a baseball game. So, working with some fabulous people at the Jackson Generals, I straddled the Harley and took off.

Nashville, TN – The first-place Nashville Sounds begin an eight-game homestand on Friday, August 12th when they welcome the Triple-A Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks – the Reno Aces – to First Tennessee Park.

Clarksville, TN – It was hard not to feel as though Christmas had come early when news of the Shelby Miller deal broke.
A Dansby Swanson? All for me? And an Aaron Blair for my pitching collection? And wow… an Ender Inciarte! I’ve never had one of those! Oh here, I got you a Shelby Miller… slightly used. Hmm, I feel kinda bad about that now. Want a gift card?
If I knew any Diamonbacks fans, I probably would’ve felt bad for them. They’ve now mortgaged three first-round picks—including Swanson, the No. 1 overall in 2015—and a legitimately exciting defensive outfielder for Shelby Miller, a marginal pitching prospect and the right not to pay Bronson Arroyo any more money. The franchise is going for it, which is an exciting phrase to hear—it was also the same phrase Braves fans heard when Atlanta acquired the Upton’s, and that didn’t turn out all that well.
