APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) volleyball team makes its only trip to Nashville this spring when it faces Tennessee State in a two-match series at Kean Hall. Due to impending winter weather, the Govs and Tigers are scheduled to play both matches Sunday, at 11:00am and 4:00pm.

The Govs will face a Morehead State team that is among that group of one-loss programs and is tied for first place with Murray State at 4-1.

APSU led research team names new crayfish species for 101st Airborne Division

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The stream beds on the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell harbor a rare treasure, a rusty-brown crayfish with white-tipped claws that exists nowhere else in the world. Former Austin Peay State University (APSU) graduate student Erin Bloom led the research that identified the crayfish as a new species.

2016, 2017 OVC Softball Championship to be held at Choccolocco Park

 

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – The Ohio Valley Conference Board of Athletic Directors and Board of Presidents have approved a plan to move the OVC Softball Championship to the neutral site of Oxford, AL, for the next two years beginning with the 2016 season. The eight-team double-elimination tournament will be held May 11th-14th at Choccolocco Park.

“We are delighted to host our softball championship at a first-class venue and are grateful for the support of the city leaders of Oxford,” said OVC Commissioner Beth DeBauche.

Austin Peay State University professor Dr. Korre Foster to conduct Académie de Musique choir in Paris

 

The APSU Music DepartmentClarksville, TN – In partnership with the French Académie de Musique, Austin Peay State University assistant professor of music Dr. Korre Foster will conduct a trio of choral performances in July in Paris.

Under a French-American exchange supported through a grant from the Florence Gould Foundation, Foster will be working with the Académie’s Chamber Choir, a collection of university, college and conservatory students gathered from throughout France.

Instant Peay Play: Summer time no break for APSU Governors Athletic Department

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – The 2014-15 athletic season officially came to an end for the Austin Peay State University’s Athletic Department this week when the Lady Govs outdoor track and field participants failed to advance from the NCAA East Preliminary Round Meet.

But with the summer break for the Governors and Lady Govs athletes just beginning, there is still a lot of work left before the fall semester begins in late August and it all begins again.

Curt Mize spoke at the 106th Annual Lone Oak Picnic

 

Election 2014Cunningham, TN – Curt Mize, candidate for Montgomery County Mayor, visited the 106th Annual Lone Oak Picnic held by the Central Civitan Club and talked to the crowd on Saturday, July 27th, 2014.

“I served in the military. I am a Vietnam veteran. I went to Austin Peay on the GI Bill. I have a masters degree from Memphis University. I taught school for 10 years,” said Mize. “I have been married to my wife for 44 years so I know how to compromise.”
