Fort Campbell MEDDAC NCOs lead MEDCOM’s Best Warrior preps

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – Two Soldiers preparing to compete in the Army’s Best Warrior Competition later this month came to Fort Campbell September 11th – 22nd for some final training from NCO’s at the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Fort Campbell.

Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Taylor, a medical NCO stationed at Moncrief Army Health Clinic, Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Sgt. Roberto Saenz, a preventive medicine specialist stationed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland were selected to represent U.S. Army Medical Command in the Army-wide competition.

Night Stalkers compete in U.S. Army Special Operations Command’s Best Warrior competition

Fort Bragg, NC – Two Soldiers from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) tested their inner warrior last week during the U.S. Army Special Operations Command’s Best Warrior Competition.

Spc. Mark E. Aescht, a Blackhawk crew chief in the Aviation Life Saving Equipment section, and Sgt. Derek A. Youngs, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, both from 1st Platoon, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 160th SOAR (A), competed in four days of events that included an Army physical fitness test, written essay, live-fire range and stress shoot, day and night land navigation, Army Warrior Task testing and combatives.

Fort Campbell, 101st Airborne Division Names Non-Commissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Leaders of Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) gathered to recognize two Soldiers as winners of the 2013 Non-Commissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year competition, Monday, June 3rd, at McAuliffe Hall.

Sgt. Jose L. Orozco and Spc. Jonathan D. Gragert appeared calm and collected as they stood at attention; representing both the 101st Airborne Division, and “the future of the U.S. Army,” according to Command Sgt. Major Mark F. Herndon, rear detachment command sergeant major.

Jordanian Special Operations Forces, 5th Special Forces partner for Best Warrior Competition

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division5th Special ForcesFort Campbell, KY – For the first time in its history two joint teams, consisting of soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and Jordanian Special Operations Forces, competed in the 3rd Annual Best Warrior Competition at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Center, Hashemite Kingdom in Jordan, May 8th-12th.

Despite having less than two weeks to train and prepare for the contest the two joint teams, made up of four U.S. Special Forces and three Jordanian SOF soldiers each, finished sixth and twelfth overall out of 22 teams that entered the 4-day competition.
