Snodgrass’ 11-strikeouts, Govs late-inning heroics lead to win over Jacksonville State

Austin Peay State University GovernorsJackson, TN – Starter Jack Snodgrass struck out a career-high 11 batters and Austin Peay State University’s baseball team took advantage of two ninth-inning errors to pull off a 4-1 victory against Jacksonville State, Friday night, at the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship at Pringles Park.

The contest got started as a pitcher’s duel with neither team plating a run through the first 6½ innings – the longest scoreless start to an OVC Tournament game since 2001.

Govs to make two special presentations on final home weekend

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will host Southeast Missouri with the Ohio Valley Conference’s regular-season title waiting in the wings. In addition to the three-game series, the Governors will make special presentations before the beginning of each day’s action, slated for 1:00pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Govs host Jackrabbits in midweek outings

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will host South Dakota State in a pair of midweek contests. The two teams are scheduled to play a 4:00pm contest both Tuesday and Wednesday at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay (6-3) has a 6-1 mark at Raymond C. Hand Park after posting a 2-1 record in last weekend’s Riverview Inn Invitational. The Govs saw their 11-game home winning streak stopped with a 16-15 extra-inning loss to Eastern Michigan before bouncing back with a 10-5 victory against EMU and an 11-4 win against Alabama A&M.

APSU earns 11 OVC Medals of Honor; two team captured OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsAustin Peay State University student-athletes earned 11 Ohio Valley Conference Medals of Honor while two teams, women’s golf and men’s tennis, captured OVC Team Academic Awards, announced Thursday by the conference office.

The Medal of Honor is awarded annually to student-athletes who achieve the highest grade-point average in a conference-sponsored sport.  Each one of the APSU recipients held a 4.0 grade-point average in their respective sport for the year.  Heading the list is a pair of senior women’s track and field ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans, Carrie Burggraf (first team) and Shamai Larsen (second team). Larsen, in fact, earned Medal of Honor distinction for both women’s track and field and women’s cross county. «Read the rest of this article»
