Austin Peay State University Lady GovsRichmond, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team closes out the road portion of the 2012-13 schedule at McBrayer Arena, Saturday, when the Lady Govs face OVC East Division-leading Eastern Kentucky in a 3:00pm (CT) tip-off.

The Lady Colonels own a 25-8 mark all-time against Austin Peay in their home gym, although the Lady Govs won the last battle in Richmond, 66-63, January 2nd, 2012.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball begins New Year at Eastern Kentucky

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay wraps its Ohio Valley Conference-opening three-game road trip – and ushers in 2012 – with a 6:00pm (CT), Monday contest against Eastern Kentucky at McBrayer Arena. The two teams enter the week on opposite ends of the OVC standings.

Austin Peay fell to 0-2 in OVC play after a 74-67 loss at Morehead State, Saturday, and will be playing its third game in five days. Eastern Kentucky improved to 2-0 in conference action with its 79-59 win against Tennessee State, Saturday. The two teams split last season’s series with the home team winning each contest.

Lady Govs fall at Eastern Kentucky

 

APSU Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsRichmond, KY – A wounded animal is the most dangerous as Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team found out the hard way in a 61-56 loss to last-place Eastern Kentucky in Ohio Valley Conference action at McBrayer Arena.

Austin Peay (7-15, 6-4 OVC) never trailed by more than seven points in the contest, but trailed for 36 minutes of the contest. The Lady Govs scored five consecutive points in the second half to take a two-point, 36-34, lead with 15:12 left. Freshman Shyra Brown extended the lead to four points, 38-34, seconds later.

Lady Govs return to road, visit Eastern Kentucky to start OVC race’s second half

 

APSU Women’s Basketball  

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s basketball team begins the second half of the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season race with a 4:30pm (CT), Thursday contest against Eastern Kentucky at McBrayer Arena.  

Austin Peay won the first meeting between the two teams – a 70-60 decision, December 19th, in Clarksville. The Lady Govs built a 13-point halftime lead and held on in the second half, fending off a late charge by the Lady Colonels. Freshman Nicole Olszewski led APSU with 18 points while senior Darcie Warner scored a career-high 17 points. Eastern Kentucky’s Brittany Coles led all scorers with 24 points, scoring 12 at the free-throw line.

Lady Govs down Eastern Kentucky, win OVC home opener

 

APSU Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team jumped out a 13-point halftime lead and held on, posting a 70-60 Ohio Valley Conference victory against Eastern Kentucky, Sunday afternoon, at the Dunn Center.

Senior Darcie Warner was the first half’s star, scoring 16 points on 6-of-8 field goal shooting and 3-of-4 from three-point range. Her effort helped the Lady Govs overcome slow starts by its two leading scorers – junior Whitney Hanley and sophomore Meghan Bussabarger – who combined for just four points.

Lady Govs return to OVC play seeking to rebound from disappointing loss

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay will lift the curtain on the home portion of its Ohio Valley Conference schedule when it hosts Eastern Kentucky in a 2:00pm, Sunday contest at the Dunn Center.

Austin Peay is still seeking its first home victory this season after losing its first three home affairs. The Lady Govs dropped a 69-42 decision to Bowling Green, December 11th, in its last outing at the Dunn Center. Austin Peay again won the rebounding battle, 40-34, but continued to suffer from their sudden shooting slump. The Lady Govs shot a season-low 26.9 percent from the field, the second consecutive game they have shot a season low.
