U.S. Army Garrison Fort Campbell CSM Noel S. Foster passed away at home Friday, September 1st

 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – As the Fort Campbell garrison command sergeant major since February 2016, CSM Foster served as the senior enlisted adviser to the Fort Campbell garrison commander for all matters involving enlisted personnel.

CSM Foster entered the Army in July 1988 and was a career infantryman. His previous assignments include Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Polk, Louisiana and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. CSM Foster also completed multiple assignments at Fort Campbell, Kentucky including 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, command sergeant major and 3rd Brigade Combat Team rear detachment command sergeant major during their 2015 deployment to Afghanistan.

APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board

Tennessee Higher Education CommissionClarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.

The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.

Austin Peay State University announces Fort Campbell Colonel James R. Salome to deliver keynote at Summer Commencement

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Colonel James R. Salome will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 88th Summer Commencement on August 5th.

Salome took command of Fort Campbell on June 18th, 2015, after arriving from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as the Commander’s Initiatives Group director, U.S. Army Forces Command. Salome previously served with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, as an operations officer.

Jack B. Turner established the award several years ago in honor of Darol Walker, retired vice president of Jack B. Turner and Associates Inc. in Clarksville and retired command sergeant major in the U.S. Army.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Mike Krause is the type of person who likes a challenge. In the fall of 2006, he completed his bachelor’s degree at Austin Peay State University while still serving as a soldier in the 101st Airborne Division.

Eight years later, as executive director of the Tennessee Promise and Drive to 55 Initiative in the Office of Governor Bill Haslam, he is in charge of one of the most ambitious programs in the state’s history.

Private First Class Cecil Garris’ remains recovered in France

Tennessee Department of Veterans AffairsNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder recognize the service and sacrifice of Private First Class Cecil E. Harris of Shelbyville, TN.

Harris was serving with the 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division on January 2nd, 1945 when his platoon was holding a defensive position in Dambach, France near the German border during World War II.

Governor Bill Haslam taps Mike Krause to lead Drive to 55, Tennessee Promise

 

Krause to Oversee Launch and Implementation of Tennessee Promise

State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam today announced that Mike Krause will join the Governor’s Office as executive director of the Drive to 55 and Tennessee Promise initiatives.

Krause will lead and manage the launch and implementation of Tennessee Promise and oversee all Drive to 55 efforts, including the statewide Seamless Alignment and Integrated Learning Support (SAILS) early math remediation program, online innovation initiatives, Degree Compass expansion, adult student analytics and research, veteran education efforts, and the development of post-secondary scorecards.
