Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – In Week 5 of the 2012 season, the Minnesota Vikings controlled play from both sides of the line of scrimmage against the Tennessee Titans in a 30-7 win at Mall of America Field.

Christian Ponder passed for 258 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings, and the aerial assault was complemented by 175 rushing yards.

Adrian Peterson led the way with 88 yards on 17 carries (5.2 avg.).

However, it was wide receiver Percy Harvin who was arguably the biggest antagonist. He recorded a game-high 108 yards on eight receptions, including a touchdown. He also rushed for one of Minnesota’s three touchdowns.

The Titans and Vikings have opened the regular season against each other on one prior occasion. In 1989, the Vikings hosted and defeated the then-Oilers on Kickoff Weekend by a final score of 38-7. It was the first of 10 victories during the regular season for the eventual NFC Central Champion Vikings.

Tennessee Titans lose final preseason game 19-3 to Minnesota Vikings at LP Field Thursday night

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – On Thursday, August 29th, the Minnesota Vikings (4-0-0) beat the Tennessee Titans (2-2-0) 19-3 on a rainy night at LP Field. Both teams kept their starters on the bench.

The Vikings took the opening drive 80 yards for a touchdown. Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, in his first NFL start, connected with wide receiver Adam Thielen for the 3 yard score.

Four field goals by kicker Blair Walsh put the Vikings up 19-0.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans win their first preseason game, over the Minnesota Vikings at LP Field 14-3. The Titans passed for 194 yards and rushed for another 96 yards totaling 290 yards. The Vikings had 248 yards of offense on 98 yards rushing and 150 yards passing.

Matt Hasselbeck, who was signed as an unrestricted free agent from the Seattle Seahawks on July 29th, started at quarterback and played one series in his Titans debut. One of his highlights was a 20 yard completion deep left to Lavelle Hawkins.
