Citizens, media invited to Mayor’s annual budget speech
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will present her 2019 financial plan for the City of Clarksville at 11:00am Thursday, May 24th, 2018 in the City Council Chambers, 106 Public Square.
She will outline her budget priorities, and offer specifics on public safety, better roads, and strong family recreation opportunities.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is committed to an open and transparent budget process and encourages citizens to attend a series of budget presentations May 7th-10th, 2018.
City of Clarksville Departments will present their budget highlights to the Mayor, which then will be considered as she prepares her full Fiscal Year 2019 budget proposal to be presented to the City Council.
Natural recreation area envisioned in heart of the Clarksville
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan’s 2018 budget, approved Monday by the Clarksville City Council, includes $450,000 to acquire a unique tract of land in the heart of Clarksville to be preserved as an Urban Wilderness.
The Clarksville Urban Wilderness would be on rugged land that lies between Madison Street and the Red River off of Tanglewood Drive. It includes dense vegetation, steep ravines, primitive trails, and a stream with a waterfall.
No-tax-increase plan focuses on public safety, roads
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan presented a proposed 2017-18 budget Wednesday that calls for no property tax increase, but provides for significant investment in public safety, new roadways, a downtown Performing Arts and Conference Center, a family Athletic Complex and land for a new Urban Wilderness park in the heart of the city.
“I’m proposing a No-Tax-Increase budget, with the property tax rate remaining $1.24 per $100 of assessed property value,” Mayor McMillan said in her annual budget speech to the community. “This is the same rate City property owners paid this year.”

Mayor McMillan is committed to an open and transparent budget process and encourages the City Council, citizens and the news media to attend the presentation, which will outline her proposed financial blueprint for the city’s 2017-18 Fiscal Year that begins July 1st.

Unlike most county governments, including Montgomery County, Clarksville’s City Charter does not provide for budget planning and preparation through a committee.
Clarksville, TN – In the 2015-16 budget, Clarksville Mayor McMillan proposed a special revenue fund created from a small portion of the local option sales tax dollars the City of Clarksville receives each year.
That proposal was included in the budget that the Council adopted in July. The purpose of this special revenue fund was to provide money to deal with one of the biggest issues people in Clarksville are interested in: roads.

Clarksville, TN – I held my 39th Town Hall Meeting last night, since being elected to City Council. One of my campaign promises was to hold regular monthly meetings, and with one or two exceptions, I have done so.
It is important to me that people know that they can come and voice their opinion, give me info on things they need help with and tell me their ideas for how Clarksville can grow and be the best it can be.

Clarksville, TN – On Monday, June 2nd, 2014 City Councilwoman Kaye Jones will host her Regular Town Hall meeting at 6:30pm at 2215 Madison Street, in the Clarksville Gas and Water Administration Building.
This meeting is open to the public, not just Ward 11.
