Clarksville’s Mariah Smith finishes 3rd at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate for University of Tennessee

UT Lady VolsSevierville, TN – Former Clarksville High School golfer and state champion Mariah Smith, helped lead a Tennessee contingent of golfers to a strong showing this past weekend at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.  All three Lady Vols competed as individuals, finishing in the top 6.

“All in all, it was a great week,” Volunteer Assistant Coach Luis Pavon said. “We had three top-six finishes.”

The Volunteers were led by freshman Mariah Smith who finished tied for third, shooting a 54-hole total of 222 with her best round coming on Sunday where she shot an even-par 71.

Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System congratulates the students who performed so well in the TSSAA State Wrestling Championship.

The Rossview High School girls wrestling team captured the State Championship title in their division. They set a new record for total points scored in the girls division at the state wrestling tournament with 118 points (previous state record was 100pts) 2nd place team scored 62 points.

Clarksville High School’s Alyvia Crawley Wins Tennessee 2018 Poetry Out Loud Contest

 
Tennessee Arts CommissionNashville, Tn —The 2018 Tennessee Poetry Out Loud (POL) champion is Alyvia Crawley a junior at Clarksville High School in Clarksville, TN. The competition was held on Saturday, March 10, in the Ford Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
 
“I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I didn’t know what the judges were looking for, but I really understood all of my poems and I wanted to portray what the authors were saying,” said Crawley. “One of the best skills I learned was to comprehend what someone else is saying and then communicate that.”

What to do During Severe Weather Situations

It began with unseasonably warm temperatures last week followed by strong winds and tornados that impacted more than 150 homes and hundreds of people in our community. Planning for severe weather can help tremendously.

It is strongly recommended that rural and municipal residents use a NOAA weather alert radio which can be purchased for less than $50.00 at several local stores or online. There are also free and low-cost severe weather apps including the NOAA app and apps from News Channels 2, 4 and 5.

CMCSS announces change to 2017-18 Calendar

 

Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has announces a change to the 2017-18 school calendar.

Because a Montgomery County Primary Election was added after the school calendar for the year was set, the School Board has voted to not have students report on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018.

CMCSS names Bryan Feldman new Clarksville High School Principal

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMSS) has announced that Bryan Feldman has been chosen as the next principal of Clarksville High School.

Feldman, who has served as principal at West Creek Middle School for seven years, replaces Jean Luna who has been appointed director of all CMCSS high schools.

CMCSS Announces Other Appointments

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has made four administrative appointments for leadership positions.

Jean Luna is named the Director of High Schools for CMCSS. She has 19 years of experience in education in the states of Iowa, Washington, North Carolina and Tennessee. She will earn her doctorate of education from Lipscomb University this December.
