Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission becomes Green Certified

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The Green Certification Program is pleased to announce that the Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission (RPC) is the newest Green Certified organization. A green ribbon cutting was held on Monday, September 28th to honor the Regional Planning Commission’s achievement.

Ribbon cutting attendees included Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett and Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts along with representatives from the Green Certification Board. Mayor Pitts thanked the Regional Planning Commission for its work to become Certified and commended its employees for working together to achieve certification.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program holds Awards Banquet

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, September 15th. 2020, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program held its annual awards banquet. In the past this banquet has been held in person at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center but this year the Program held a virtual banquet to celebrate environmental stewardship amongst local organizations while staying safe and socially distanced.

The awards included 8 Excellence Awards, 2 Best Overall Organization Awards, 16 Level-Up Awards and the Ron Smithfield Persistence Award. The big winner of the day was the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department taking home the Outstanding Efforts in Land Use Award, the Best Overall Small Organization Award and an award for achieving Platinum Level in the Program.

Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certification Program to hold Banquet, September 15th

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – Each year the Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certification Program holds a banquet to celebrate local organizations that are outstanding environmental stewards. Prior to 2020, this banquet was held in person.

This year the Program will instead be holding its first ever virtual banquet. The banquet will be presented completely online and will be free of charge thanks to our wonderful banquet sponsors Florim, USA and Montgomery County as well as our individual award sponsors.

Northfield Eye Care becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program held a green ribbon cutting to celebrate Northfield Eye Care joining the Program. The ribbon cutting was attended by Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, Green Certification Program Board Members and Northfield Eye Care doctors and staff.

Northfield Eye Care, which opened in early 2020 and is a sister office to Sango Eye Care, is unique in that it obtained Green Certification while the office building was being constructed.

Richview Middle School becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, January 21st, 2020, a green ribbon cutting was held to welcome Richview Middle School to the Green Certification Program. Richview Middle becomes the first middle school in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) to complete the Program.

The ribbon cutting ceremony included remarks by Richview Middle Energy Champion Jason Groppel, Richview Middle Principal Lisa Baker, CMCSS Director of Schools Millard House II and Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett.

Arcadia Senior Living becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The latest local business to join the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program is Arcadia Senior Living. A green ribbon cutting was held on August 26th, 2019 to celebrate its achievement. The ribbon cutting was attended by Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, Program Manager Carlye Sommers and Program Board Members Daryl Pater, Gene Fish, Doug Jones and Melinda Shepard.

Arcadia is the first senior living facility to join the Green Certification Program. Jackie Stone, Executive Director and her staff have worked to create a sustainable building that promotes sustainability not only with staff but also with residents. Common areas of the facility are 95% LED lit and the majority include occupancy sensors.

Kroger earns Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, May 28th, 2019, a green ribbon cutting was held to recognize Kroger as the latest Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified organization. The certification covered all three Kroger stores in Clarksville (Dover Crossing, Madison Street and Lowes Drive).

Those in attendance at the Green Ribbon Cutting were Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Montgomery County Chief of Staff Kyle Johnson, Program Manager Carlye Sommers and Program board members Daryl Pater, Haley Randell and Doug Jones.
