Nashville Sounds defeat Gwinnett Stripers 2-1 for Fifth Straight Win

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Jace Peterson hit a go-ahead two-run home run and Corey Ray made a home run-robbing catch in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Nashville Sounds to a 2-1 win over the Gwinnett Stripers in front of a sellout crowd of 10,716 Saturday night at First Horizon Park.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Jace Peterson followed a Zach Green single with a two-run homer into The Band Box to give the Sounds a 2-1 lead.

The slim margin held up as the pitching and defense did the rest. Zack Godley was sharp in his first start of the year with Nashville.

Nashville Sounds rally to tie, win in extra inning thriller against Gwinnett Stripers

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds came away with yet another thrilling win at First Horizon Park when they walked off on the Gwinnett Stripers with a 5-4 victory in 10 innings Wednesday night.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 10th with nobody out and the bases loaded, Nashville third baseman Zach Green hit the first pitch he saw to the wall in right field, easily scoring Dee Strange-Gordon with the tying run and Logan Forsythe with the winning run.

Just moments earlier, a wild top of the 10th unfolded with Gwinnett grabbing two runs to take a 4-2 lead.

Nashville Sounds come from behind to beat Gwinnett Stripers 9-8

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Jace Peterson and Hernán Pérez delivered two-out run-scoring hits in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Nashville Sounds to a 9-8 win over the Gwinnett Stripers Tuesday night at First Horizon Park.

In Nashville’s first-ever game against Atlanta’s Triple-A affiliate, the Sounds came from behind twice to score the win in the series opener.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and trailing 6-5, Jace Peterson delivered a two-run single down the left field line, scoring Dustin Peterson and Keston Hiura to give the Sounds a 7-6 lead.

Nashville Sounds get walk-off extra innings win over Memphis Redbirds

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Weston Wilson delivered the knockout punch with a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Nashville Sounds a thrilling 4-3 win over the Memphis Redbirds in front of a sellout crowd of 10,861 fans at First Horizon Park Saturday night.

A wild back-and-forth affair saw the Sounds and Redbirds tied at 3-3 after nine innings. Memphis nearly took the lead in the top of the 10th but Dustin Peterson’s perfect throw from left field cut down a sliding Austin Dean at the plate.

Nashville Sounds take two from Toledo Mud Hens

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds tossed a shutout in game one and launched three home runs in game two on their way to sweeping a doubleheader against the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field Friday night.

Nashville’s first win of the year was backed by a dominant pitching performance by a trio of left-handers – starter Aaron Ashby and relievers Quintin Torres-Costa and Clayton Andrews.

The 22-year-old Ashby made his Triple-A debut and worked four shutout innings. He limited the Mud Hens to just one hit and struck out six. Torres-Costa followed and kept Toledo off the board for 1 2/3 innings and Andrews finished the shutout with 1 1/3 innings. The trio combined for 12 strikeouts and Torres-Costa earned the win in relief.
