Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University star senior center Chris Horton, who led the Govs to an improbable Ohio Valley Conference tourney title and NCAA tournament appearance, was voted the Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association for the 2015-16 season, as announced by the organization Thursday.

Ohio Valley Conference Golf Championships begin at GreyStone Golf Club

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – The 2013 Ohio Valley Conference women’s and men’s golf championships will tee-off at the GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee beginning this Sunday. The 54-hole women’s championship will be held April 21st-23rd while the 54-hole men’s championship will take place April 25th-27th.

The course will be a par 72 for each event, with the yardage running 6,858 yards for the men’s teams and 5,964 yards for the women’s teams. Eastern Illinois will serve as the host for the women’s championship while Morehead State is the host of the men’s event.

APSU’s Chris Horton named OVC Freshman of the Year joins Travis Betran on OVC All-Newcomer team

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – Chris Horton, who became the first conference player to block 100 or more shots since 1996-97, has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year.

In addition, Horton and Govs’ leading scorer Travis Betran were been named to the OVC All-Newcomer team. The OVC post-season basketball honors were announced Tuesday by the league office after a vote of league coaches and sports information directors.
