Clarksville High School students to compete in State-Wide Poetry Contest at Austin Peay State University

 

The Tennessee Arts CommissionNashville, TN – Along with 14 other Tennessee schools, students from Antioch High School, Franklin Road Academy, Overton High School, Battleground Academy, Fairview High School, John Paul II High School, Clarksville High School and Cookeville High School will participate in the 2014 Tennessee Poetry Out Loud State contest.

Cookeville Cavaliers Coral West Creek Coyotes to Win Slamfest 2013

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – At 9:00pm Saturday morning wrestling teams from 13 Schools started competing in William Workman Gymnasium at Clarksville High School for Slamfest 2013. By 5:00pm only two were left competing for 1st place, the West Creek Coyotes and the Cookeville Cavaliers.

With three straight pins in the 185, 195 and 220 lb weight class matches, the Cavaliers came from behind to take down the Coyotes 45-36 and earn 1st place in Slamfest 2013.

Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office Sponsors Click It and Ticket Teen Safety Belt Campaign

 

Program to Educate Teens on Importance of Buckling Up

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – Each year, dozens of Tennessee teens die in traffic crashes and many of those are not wearing safety belts. Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers.

The Governor’s Highway Safety Office (GHSO) wants to help save lives by encouraging more teens to wear their safety belts. The GHSO is partnering with State Farm Insurance, Jackson Area Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency (JACOA) and four Tennessee high schools to sponsor a program called Click It AND Ticket.

Tennessee Department of Health names Winner of First Tennessee “Battle of the Belt”

 

Competition Designed to Increase Seat Belt Usage among Teens

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – Sullivan East High School in Bluff City, Tennessee has been awarded the top prize in Tennessee’s first-ever “Battle of the Belt” competition. The Tennessee Department of Health Injury Prevention Program, in partnership with the Tennessee Trauma Centers, sponsors this statewide competition for Tennessee high schools designed to increase seat belt usage.

The trophy is presented to Sullivan East High School in Bluff City, Tenn., winner of the first Tennessee Battle of the Belt competition. The Tennessee Department of Health has partnered with Tennessee Trauma Centers to sponsor this statewide contest among high schools with the goal of increasing seat belt usage.
