Nashville Predators regain home ice advantage with win over the Dallas Stars 3-2

Nashville PredatorsDallas, Tx — The Nashville Predators came through in the clutch tonight against a very aggressive Dallas Star hockey team to win, 3-2.

Pekka Rinne was the difference maker for the Predators fighting off 40 of 42 shots by the Stars tonight who seemed relentless on goal.  Combined with a stifling defensive core for Nashville, they held off the Stars to regain home-ice advantage.

Rocco Grimaldi lit the lamp for Nashville at 3:29 of the second period, skating the puck along the boards, then firing the wrister past goalie Ben Bishop for the early 1-0 lead.

Dodging the Roadkill: Symphony of the Pipes

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyKerrville, TX – Last month I was invited to travel with a few other bikers to Texas.  I’ve ridden in Texas and it’s some of the best riding I’ve ever experienced.

Eight of us took off from Clarksville early Friday morning.  We made the halfway point in Texarkana, Texas by late afternoon.

After a quick meal, we all retired to our rooms for some much needed rest and relaxation.  Tomorrow was going to be another long day in the saddle.

We had a slight delay in Little Rock as we worked our way through stop and go traffic due to, ironically, a motorcycle accident.  Other than that, we had a good ride and we were safe and sound.

Nashville Predators defeat the Minnesota Wild 1-0 clinch Stanley Cup Playoff spot

Nashville PredatorsSt. Paul, MN – The Nashville Predators punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup playoffs tonight with a win over the Minnesota Wild, 1-0.  Ryan Johansen scored the game winner, just 4:32 into the opening period.

The Predators were coming off of a humiliating loss to the central division leading Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night and with the St. Louis Blues breathing down their neck, they desperately needed a win tonight.

Winnipeg lost to the Dallas Stars, but the Blues beat the Vegas Golden Knights to stay within two points of the Predators.  The final few games of the regular season will determine how these teams shake out for the playoffs.  Nashville still has a chance to win the division, but they could also fall to third place by seasons end.

Nashville Predators embarrassed by the Las Vegas Golden Knights 5-1

Nashville PredatorsLas Vegas, NV– The Las Vegas Golden Knights ran roughshod over the Nashville Predators tonight in sin city, breaking a five game home losing streak with the win, 5-1.

Nashville starting goalie Juuse Saros blocked 45 shots on the night, but Las Vegas attempted the most shots on goal for the season against Nashville with 50.

The Predators thought they had the first goal of the night in the first period when Colton Sissons scored on a breakaway, but the goal was disallowed when Vegas challenged for off side.  After the video review, it was determined that Sissons WAS in fact off side, so no goal.

Healthcare Providers encouraged to aggressively treat unhealthy lifestyles

American Heart AssociationDallas, TX – Healthcare providers should treat unhealthy behaviors as aggressively as they treat high blood pressure, cholesterol and other heart disease risk factors, according to an American Heart Association science advisory published in Circulation.

“We’re talking about a paradigm shift from only treating biomarkers — physical indicators of a person’s risk for heart disease — to helping people change unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, unhealthy body weight, poor diet quality and lack of physical activity,” said Bonnie Spring, Ph.D., lead author of the statement and a professor of preventive medicine and psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Northwestern University in Chicago.
