Senator Lamar Alexander Statement on Tennessee Major Disaster Declaration

 

U.S. SenateOak Ridge, TN – United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement after U.S. President Donald J. Trump approved federal disaster assistance for 10 Tennessee counties impacted by severe storms and straight-line winds in October.

“I commend President Trump for quickly approving Governor Bill Lee’s request for a major disaster declaration to help the 10 Tennessee counties that were harmed by severe storms earlier this year. This federal assistance will help Tennessee communities begin to rebuild and recover.”

Eight Tennessee Counties to receive Federal Disaster Assistance

 

Carroll, Cheatham, Dickson, Haywood, Houston, Madison, Shelby, Tipton counties

State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announced today the federal government will provide public assistance to eight counties due to the severe winter weather that brought snow, ice and sleet accumulations to the state from March 2nd to March 4th, 2014.

The presidential disaster declaration will allow government entities and certain private non-profits in Carroll, Cheatham, Dickson, Haywood, Houston, Madison, Shelby and Tipton counties to apply for reimbursement of specific expenses related to disaster response and recovery. «Read the rest of this article»

FEMA Disaster Assistance Tops $100 Million In First Two Weeks

 

ATLANTA, GA – More than $100 million in federal assistance has been approved for the survivors of Tennessee’s record-setting storms and flooding, just two weeks after President Barack Obama declared a federal disaster.

The amount includes $90.7 million in housing aid, such for rental assistance and home repairs, and $9.5 million for other needs such as personal property.
