Former 101st Airborne Division Rakkasan memorialized at Fort Campbell Fisher House

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – A rocking horse, meant to bring joy to children while honoring a fallen Soldier, was donated to the Fort Campbell Fisher House, October 13th, 2017.

The horse was hand crafted by volunteers in honor of Sgt. 1st Class Tony Knier, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Knier died October 21st, 2006 from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Bayji, Iraq.

Volunteer Scott Snyder presents a custom-made rocking horse to the Fort Campbell Fisher House Oct. 13 in honor of former Rakkasan, Sgt. 1st Class Tony Knier, who was killed in Iraq in 2006. Soldiers from the Iron Rakkasans, BACH, and family friends joined Knier’s mother at the presentation ceremony honoring her son. Clarksville, TN – As students packed into the gym at West Creek Middle School in Clarksville, Friday, months of planning had finally came to fruition.

The school’s administration had worked closely with Soldiers from the 716th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade, supported by the 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, to give the students something special for Veterans Day.

The students, West Creek Middle School’s faculty, members of the 716th MP Bn., veterans, and community members gathered for a patriotic ceremony honoring Veterans Day.

Go Commando Donates Over $50,000 To Charitable Organizations

 

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5kClarksville, TN – The Go Commando Half Marathon & 5k, powered by CDE Lightband, announced Tuesday they would donate over $50,000 to local non-profits and community organizations.

The largest recipients, the Clarksville Area YMCA and the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation, were both on hand to accept donations of $15,000 each. Christy Batts, Broadband Division Manager for the Clarksville Department of Electricity, was also in attendance to present the checks to the recipients.

Unity Day last Weekend United the City of Clarksville for At Least One Day

 

Clarksville Unity DayClarksville, TN – On Saturday Hilldale Baptist Church played host to third annual Unity Day celebration. The goal of Unity Day is to build a stronger community by recognizing and joining together religious, governmental and business leaders in fellowship.

Unity Day was founded by Treva Gordon, the owner and publisher of the Convenient Shopper Magazine. “I was watching an awards show on television and I was so inspired by the way they honored the pop star’s and the rap artists. It was wonderful; they had the gift bags, bling bling, the limos, and everything that went with it. That was awesome!” she said to herself.
