Clarksville Civil War RoundtableClarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, August 17th, 2016 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Healthcare. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear orders Flags to Half Staff on July 10th to honor fallen Fort Campbell Soldier

Hilltop Super Market’s 4th annual BBQ Cook-Off was a big hit with the Local Community Saturday

 

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – One could smell the aromas in the air before arriving at Hilltop Super Market’s 4th annual BBQ Cook-Off Saturday.

The grass area in front of the market was filled with tents, grills, barrels and all kinds of barbecue cooking equipment.

People from miles around come out to the BBQ Cook-Off. There was plenty of food to be had as most of the grillers were selling barbecue as well as competing. Anything from bbq sandwich, hamburger, hotdogs, ribeye sandwiches, bbq by the pound, etc were available for purchase.

Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department holds First Annual Cornhole Tournament at Hilltop Super Market

 

Palmyra Volunteer Fire DepartmentMontgomery County, TN – On Saturday, May 11th, the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department held their First Annual Cornhole Tournament.

It began at 8:00am at Hilltop Super Market, located at 400 Highway 149, during Hilltop’s BBQ Cook-Off.

Richards wins, Lady Govs sweep Thorobred Classic

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsFrankfort, KY – Sophomore Xiamar Richards took home her season’s second victory and Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team swept the top five spots for its first victory, Friday, at the Thorobreds Stampede hosted by Kentucky State.

Prior to the race head coach Doug Molnar set a goal of winning the event and the Lady Govs came through big. Not only did they win the event, they had all eight runners finish 14th or better in the 38-runner event. Austin Peay had an average finishing time of 19:05.03. That time was 2:27 faster than host Kentucky State who took home team second-place.

Richards posts top-10 finish at Louisville meet

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsLouisville, KY – Sophomore Xiamar Richards finished eight to lead Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team to an impressive 11th-place finish at the massive Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic’s Blue Race, Saturday morning, at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

Richards posted the Lady Govs best finish at the Louisville race, completing the five-kilometer race in 18:23.07 to finish eighth in the 257-woman race. Junior transfer Chantelle Grey also added a top-50 finish, cross the line in 44th place with a time of 19:04.11.

Yator, Kosgei post good finishes but Govs finish 23rd at Louisville

Austin Peay State University GovernorsLouisville, KY – Senior Bonfiace Yator posted a top-50 finish but Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team only managed a 26th-place finish  at the massive Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic’s Blue Race, Saturday morning, at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

Yator’s 48th place finish – he completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:58.92 – may not sound like an impressive finish but the Blue Race’s field was composed of 285 runners, placing Yator among the field’s top fifth. It is the third consecutive year an Austin Peay runner has posted a top-50 finish at the Louisville meet.
