South Nashville defeats Karns to repeat as 12-year old Little League Tennessee State Baseball Champions

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – South Nashville blasted three home runs versus Karns, in front of a standing room only crowd July 25th at Griff Schmittou Field, in finals the 12-year old Little League State Baseball Tournament to repeat as state champions with a 4-1 victory.

In didn’t take long for the fans to see the first ball go out of the park, as South Nashville leadoff hitter Barrett Smith blasted the fifth pitch of the game out over the center field fence for the 1-0 lead.

Karns reaches 12-year old Little League State Tournament title game with 15-5 win over Tullahoma

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Karns scored seven runs in the first inning, July 24th at Griff Schmittou Field, and never looked back, as they defeated Tullahoma 15-5 to reach the championship game of the 12-year old Little League State Tournament.

After being held to just three runs the night before, Karns came out swinging the bats recording seven hits in the first frame in scoring its seven runs.

Zane Keener opened the game with an opposite-field double and an out later scored on a single by Cameron Fisher.

Tullahoma rallies in final at bat to eliminate Obion County with walk off homer

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Cam Hargrove blasted a three-run homer to cap a four-run bottom of the sixth inning, July 23rd at Griff Schmittou Field in the 12-year old Little League State Tournament, to eliminate Obion County 6-5 in walk-off fashion.

Tullahoma trailed 5-2 heading into their final three outs, but got a quick jumpstart when Cooper Lawson opened the frame with a solo home run to make it 5-3.

Sam Malmstrom followed with a base hit, to bring up the possible tying run in Matt Marcel.

South Nashville’s 9-3 win over Karns puts Defending Champions back in title game

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Defending state champions South Nashville put together an eight-run fourth inning, Wedensday, July 23rd at Griff Schmittou Field in the 12-year old Little League State Tournament, to rally past Karns for a 9-3 victory and a return to the state title game.

South Nashville trailed Karns 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but Blake Money got the rally started with a one-out single and moved into scoring position at second base on a wild pitch.

One bad inning dooms Johnson City in 12-year old Little League State Tournament elimination-game loss to Obion County

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Johnson City’s defense let them down, July 22nd at Griff Schmittou Field in the 12-year old Little League State Tournament, as Obion County took advantage of five fifth-inning errors in scoring 10 runs to advance in the loser’s bracket with a 13-3 victory.

The game was tied 3-3 heading into the top of the fifth inning, but three errors by Johnson City – coming on the first two Obion County hitters in the inning — allowed both to score and take a 5-3 lead.

Karns, South Nashville reach finals of winner’s bracket at 12-year old Little League State Tournament

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Karns continues to flex its muscles while defending state champion South Nashville had a little bit of a scare, July 21st at Griff Schmittou Field in their 12-year old Little League State Tournament winner’s bracket semifinals, but both advanced; with Karns blasting Obion County 26-0 and South Nashville slipping by Tullahoma, 3-1.

In Game 1, Tullahoma jumped out in front of the defending state champs on a solo homer by Bailey Miller off South Nashville starter Drew Byers.

Clarksville Northwest All-Stars season ends with 19-8 loss to Spring Hill in 12-year old Little League State Tournament

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Northwest All-Stars saw their post season come to an end, July 20th at Griff Schmittou Field in the 12-year old Little League State Tournament, with a 19-8 loss to Spring Hill.

Early control problems got Northwest in a hole early-on, as they walked the first two Spring Hill hitters – and after getting the first out of the inning – hit the next hatter to load the bases.

That brought up Montana Dickerson, who cleared the bases with a long home run into right-center field to give Spring Hill a quick 4-0 lead.

Johnson City stays alive with walk-off win against Smith County in 12-year old Little League State Tournament

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Briley Townsend hit two home runs, July 20th at Griff Schmittou Field, including a walk-off to-run shot in the bottom of the  sixth inning to keep Johnson City stay alive in the 2014 12-year old Little League State Tournament with a 12-10 elimination-game victory over Smith County.

Townsend finished the game going 4-for-4 with a double and triple to go with his pair of homers, while also driving in six runs.

Smith County would draw first blood with two runs in the top of the first inning, with Charlie Hopper reaching on an error and scoring on a double by Barrett Brigg.

Karns get 12-0 win over Clarksville National at 12-year old Little League State Tournament

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Karns scored four runs in each of its three at bat, July 20th at Griff Schmittou Field, as they defeated the 2014 12-year old Little League State Tournament host team Clarksville National, 12-0.

For the second day in a row Karns used the long ball to get out to an early lead, with Cameron Fisher hitting his fourth home run of the tournament – this one a three-run shot – to highlight a four-run first inning against Clarksville National.

South Nashville opens state championship title defense with 10-0 victory over Morristown American

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Defending Tennessee state champion South Nashville opened its title defense, July 20th at Griff Schmittou Field, with a 10-0, no-hit victory versus Morristown American in the 2014 12-year old Little League State Tournament.

South Nashville came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning; they recorded nine hits in scoring 10 runs.

Barrett Smith and Robert Hassell opened the inning with back-to-back singles and an out later scored on back to-back singles by Blake Money and Cade Reynolds.
