Consumer Reports selects Kia Sorento and Lexus RX as Best SUVs in 2016 Top Picks

 

Consumer ReportsYonkers, NY – Seven new vehicles made Consumer Reports’ 2016 Annual Top Picks list—the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Kia Sorento, Toyota Sienna, Toyota Camry, Lexus RX, Honda Fit, and Ford F-150 — in each of their respective categories.

The redesigned Ford F-150 was named best Pickup Truck, thanks in part to its fuel economy, quiet and spacious cabin, and much-improved infotainment system. It’s Ford’s first win in the category since 1999 and its first overall Top Pick honor since 2012.

Honda recalls over 140,000 Civics and Fits because Transmission Software may Result in Pulley Damage

 

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - NHTSAWashington, D.C. – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Civic vehicles manufactured January 16th, 2014, to November 6th, 2014 and 2015 Fit vehicles manufactured March 12th, 2014, to May 12th, 2015.

The software settings that control the transmission operation may result in damage to the transmission drive pulley shaft.

Tennessee State Trooper makes Traffic Stop and Detects possible Human Sex Trafficking

 

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – On May 27th, 2015, Tennessee State Trooper Jonathan Scott assigned to THP’s Interdiction Plus Team (IPT), made a traffic stop that lead to the arrest of driver Rafael E. Quiroz-Martinez, 22, of Honduras for Human Sex Trafficking, and the safe recovery of a female victim.

While patrolling I-40 West in Knox County, Trooper Scott stopped a 2007 Honda Fit for window tint violation. As the trooper approached the vehicle, he observed several indicators of possible criminal activity within the vehicle.

During Trooper Scott’s interview of the driver and the vehicle’s 19 year old female passenger, several inconsistencies arose in their statements that caused additional suspicion. «Read the rest of this article»

Honda recalls over 140,000 Honda Fits due to possible Window Switch Overheating that could cause a Fire

 

National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Honda is re-recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Fit vehicles covered under previous recall 10V-033. The remedy applied in this earlier recall may have been insufficient.

In the affected vehicles, over time, the plastic cover may separate from the master power window switch allowing water to enter the driver’s window and reach the master power window switch. If the master power window switch is damaged as a result of the water intrusion, overheating and failure of the switch may result.

Honda Fit Repeats at Top of Consumer Reports Best New-Car Value List

 

Analysis of performance, reliability, and owner cost finds small cars and family sedans deliver the most bang for the buck

Consumer ReportsYonkers, NY – Despite the influx of new vehicles into the small- and budget-car marketplace, the Honda Fit remains on top in Consumer Reports list of best value small cars. The Fit also reemerged as the best overall value among some 200 different vehicles that were analyzed.

“A low price doesn’t necessarily make a car a good value,” said Rik Paul, automotive editor at Consumer Reports. “A cheap vehicle can wind up costing you more money over time or can be disappointing down the road.  We think real value is what you get for your money.”
