City Council meeting deals with touchy issues with finesse

 

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The Clarksville City Council met for their regular meeting last night where they tacked a host of issues; including the the Expansion of the Winn Materials Barge Port, creating a capital project for repairs to the Smith-Trahern mansion, and a proposal to expand the number of Package Stores allowed in the city.

Legends Bank’s Dave Loos Scholarship shootout set for Saturday

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University ‘s Athletics Department, in conjunction with Legends Bank, will be seeking donations for the Dave Loos Scholarship Fund, at Saturday’s men’s basketball game, through the Legends Bank Halftime Scholarship Shootout.

The Halftime Scholarship Shootout will feature APSU President Tim Hall, APSU Vice President of Finance and Administration Mitch Robinson, Governors Club President Joel Wallace and a Legends Bank representative in a three-pointer/free-throw shootout.

City of Clarksville kicks off the 2010 Christmas on the Cumberland celebration

 

The City of Clarksville last night kicked off the 12th Annual Christmas on the Cumberland, which continues until January 3rd. The annual free holiday display features over 1,000,000 individual Lights in a amazing Christmas display that spans the entire length of McGregor Park in Downtown Clarksville.

Entertainment was provided by the band Short Notice, a passionate group of musicians whose name is derived ability to work a set list as spontaneously, as they draw the attention of their audience in short order. The band invited children up to dance to their lively Christmas tunes.

Town Hall Meeting to be held

 

Montgomery County Clarksville, TN – Montgomery County Commissioner Jeremy Bowles and City of Clarksville Councilman Joel Wallace will host a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, October 5th.

The meeting is begin at 7:00pm at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.

Austin Peay State University cuts the ribbon on the Hemlock Semiconductor Building

 

Austin Peay State UniversityAustin Peay State University held a ribbon cutting for its new Chemical Engineering Technology Facility yesterday. The facility which has been designated the Hemlock Semiconductor Building will train Austin Peay Students to fill the skilled labor needs for the new Polysilicon plant being built in North Clarksville. The ribbon cutting was attended by area dignitaries along with HSC officials, and was open to the general public.

Clarksville’s Riverfest rocked on the Cumberland River all day Saturday

 

riverfest2009The weather on the second day of Riverfest turned out to be just as good as on the first. The full day of entertainment and wholesome family fun kicked off early with the Riverfest Regatta. The Regatta featured 26 teams racing custom made boats all crafted entirely from corrugated cardboard, Duct Tape, Silicone Sealant, Construction Adhesive, and paint.

This has to be one of the funnest events to watch during the entire festival. The shoreline was packed with people all on hand to cheer on their favorite teams.
