When a Baker and his Wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk).  In the style of “The Princess Bride,” well-known stories by the Brothers Grimm, as well as other childhood tales, are woven together into a colorful parable about the human search for “happily ever after.” «Read the rest of this article»


Forever Plaid brings doo wop to the Roxy Regional Theatre


Austin Peay State University along with John McDonald and Tom Thayer of the Roxy Regional Theatre offered attendees of the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts’ Spring Salon Series a sneak preview of the upcoming Musical Forever Plaid.

John McDonald spoke in between musical numbers about the history of the Roxy Regional Theatre, and their plans for the future.  They are currently seeking 1000 donors to contribute $1000 each to provide the funding which will allow them to begin the process of building the new Roxy Regional Center for the Arts. FOREVER PLAID Resurrects the Magic of The Fifties


Begins June 11th at the Roxy Regional Theatre

Audiences will be humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950s when the Roxy Regional Theatre opens the hit musical FOREVER PLAID on Friday, June 11th, at 8:00pm.

This deliciously goofy revue centers on four young, eager male singers — Gregory Pember as Frankie, John Moser as Smudge, Christopher Cavallo as Sparky and Ryan Bowie as Jinx — killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. «Read the rest of this article»


RENT Rocks the Stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre, July 10 – August 21


RentThe Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT will rock the stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville’s Center for Arts and Education, beginning Friday, July 10, at 8pm.

Jonathan Larson’s rock musical is the joyous, breathtaking and inspiring story of a group of New York City East Village artists struggling to find their voices and find love in today’s tough times, broaching controversial themes like homelessness, AIDS and drug addiction with compassion.

Based on Puccini’s La Boheme, RENT stars Justin Barnum as Roger, Chase Kamata as Mimi, Matthew Burns as Mark, De’Lon Grant as Tom Collins, Taylor Hilt Mitchell as Angel, Alicia Kelly as Maureen, Kami Smith as Joanne and Brendan Cataldo as Benny.
