Sounds Open Road Trip With 2-1 Loss

 

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Three Oklahoma City pitchers held the Sounds to only two hits in the RedHawks’ 2-1 victory over Nashville on Monday evening at RedHawks Field in the opener of a four-game series.

Left-hander Douglas Arguello (2-1) picked up the win for Oklahoma City by hurling a quality start, holding Nashville to one run on two hits while fanning five in his six frames of action.

Fernando Rodriguez followed with two hitless innings, striking out three, before Jose Valdez closed out the win with a scoreless ninth for the RedHawks to earn his third save.

Sounds Split Series With RedHawks With 6-5 Loss

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds lost to the Oklahoma City RedHawks, 6-5, on Thursday night at Greer Stadium to earn a four-game split.

First baseman Koby Clemens led the charge for Oklahoma City, hitting a home run with four RBIs in the contest.

Left-hander Chase Wright (0-1) began with two scoreless innings in relief in his 2011 Sounds debut, but ran into trouble in the top of the ninth inning. Wright allowed a hit sandwiched between two walks to load the bases, and then an RBI infield-groundout by Clemons for the go-ahead run.

Sounds Spilt Doubleheader With RedHawks On Tuesday Night

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds split a doubleheader with the visiting Oklahoma City RedHawks on Tuesday evening at Greer Stadium, dropping the first game, 6-7, and taking the nightcap, 2-1. The twinbill made up Monday evening’s rainout.

In the nightcap, Sounds edged the RedHawks, 2-1, behind Brendan Katin’s two-run homer and another fine pitching effort from Sounds starter Amaury Rivas (2-0).

The damage came in the bottom of the fourth inning, as first baseman Mat Gamel led off the frame with a double down the left field line, extending his consecutive-game streak with a double to three games. Katin then jacked a two-run homer over the wall in right-center, for his second long ball of the doubleheader.
