Panjshir PRT attends celebratory Buzkashi game

Regional Command East - Combined Joint Task Force - 101Panjshir Province, Afghanistan – Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction Team members attended a Buzkashi match in Paryan District, April 7th.

Buzkashi, which literally translates to goat dragging, is the national sport of Afghanistan. The crowd consisted of more than a thousand people including local Afghans and several PRT members

Chapandaz, or Buzkashi players, fight for a calf carcass during a Buzkashi game in Paryan District, April 7th. More than 1,000 people including local Afghan villagers and Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction Team members attended the event. The chapandaz and their horses go through rigorous training before competing in the game.
