Tennessee Swag wins 2015 Little League Tournament of State Champions in extra-inning thriller

 

Clarksville National Girls Softball LeagueClarksville, TN – Payton Harris scored from third base on an infield ground out to cap an extra-inning, come-from-behind victory, Monday night on Moore Field at Merricourt Park, as the Tennessee Swag defeated North Carolina 3-2 in nine innings to win the Little League 9-10 year-old Tournament of State Champions.

With the victory, the Tennessee Swag – from Clarksville — finished the tournament undefeated, while taking home the title versus the defending tournament champions.

North Carolina, West Virginia final two unbeatens at Little League Tournament of State Champions

 

Little League SoftballClarksville, TN – The state championship teams from North Carolina and West Virginia have an early leg up on being the best or the best, as they won both of their games, July 26th at Merricourt Park, in the 9-10-year old girls softball Tournament of State Champions.

North Carolina has been especially in its opening games, defeating Tennessee state champion Clarksville National 12-0 in the afternoon contest, before hammering Virginia 18-3 in the nightcap.

In the Virginia win, North Carolina put the game away with a 15-run second inning – sending 20 batters to the plate – which turned out to be more runs than any other team scored total in any other contest. «Read the rest of this article»

Montgomery Central drops two hard-fought games at Tournament of State Champions

 

Little League SoftballClarksville, TN – Montgomery Central 9-10 year old girl softball team dropped two games to a pair of state champions, July 26th at Merricourt Park in the Little League Tournament of Champions, losing to West Virginia 6-1 and Florida 4-1.

In the opener, West Virginia jumped on Montgomery Central for three runs in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of a couple of walks and an error by Central.

West Virginia’s Bailey Gilbert opened the game by drawing a walk and after moving around to third base on a pair of wild pitches scored on an error by Montgomery Central’s third baseman. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville National still alive in Little League Tournament of State Champions

 

Little League SoftballClarksville, TN – Tennessee state champion Clarksville National 9-10-year old girls softball team remained alive in the Little League Tournament of State Champions, July 26th at Merricourt Park, with a 5-0 loser’s bracket victory over South Carolina after dropping its opener to North Carolina, 12-0.

Clarksville National would score all the runs it would need against South Carolina in the bottom of the first inning, with Logan Littleton tripling to left field and scoring on an infield out by Abby Chappell to go up 1-0. «Read the rest of this article»
