Clarksville’s Downtown Artists Co-op has two members selected to make holiday ornaments for State Christmas Tree

 

Downtown Artists Co-opClarksville, TN – Two of Clarksville’s Downtown Artists’ Co-op artists have been chosen to prepare holiday ornaments representing the state’s parks for the main tree at the Governor’s Mansion.

The artists are: Judy Morgan who painted the ornament representing Dunbar Cave and Lynne Griffey who’s created Port Royal’s piece.

The ornaments are hand-painted pieces of art showcasing each park’s unique character.

Lynne Griffey Shows Watercolors from Beach Poetry Book at Planters Bank in October

 

Planters Bank - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will show watercolor illustrations from local artist Lynne Griffey now through Wednesday, November 6th. The paintings are all featured in a newly published book by local author Nancy Sneed, “Grains of Sand: Beach Poems.”

Griffey and Sneed, both retired Clarksville educators, combined their talents to produce a book the entire family can enjoy. “Grains of Sand” is a collection of poems that tell the story of a family vacation to the beach, from packing to reliving the trip through the photo album.

Clarksville Riverfest Tour d’Art Winners

 

Clarksville's Riverfest 2013Clarksville, TN – Every year, Clarksville’s Riverfest Tour d’Art exhibits feature the talents from artists across the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.

There are three divisions; the Senior (Downtown Artists Co-op), the High School (Customs House Museum) and the Amateur and Professional Divisions (Smith-Trahern Mansion).

With 10+ venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.

For the month of May, the Art Walk will be held on Thursday, May 2nd from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, and Strawberry Alley. 48th Annual Rotary Dinner Auction to be held at Wilma Rudolph Event Center March 2nd

 

Clarksville Rotary ClubClarksville, TN – Montgomery County has long been recognized for its positive influence in the agriculture communities across the State and across the Nation. Montgomery County has always had a strong 4-H program for our young people.

Tennessee 4-H encourages diverse groups of youth to develop their unique skills and talents to the fullest potential. Young people participate in 4-H through clubs, special interest groups, after-school programs, camps and many other activities.

Clarksville Artist Lynne Griffey’s work selected for cover of 2012 South Atlantic Regional School of Christian Mission

 

2012 South Atlantic Regional School of Christian MissionClarksville, TN – Lynne Griffey, a member of St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church, had her art selected for a cover design for the 2012 South Atlantic Regional School of Christian Mission. Griffey’s work was selected from entries from the entire Southeast Conference region.

The 2012 theme for the mission is “That All Might Have Life”. For inspiration Griffey selected John 10:10, where Jesus proclaims “I have come that they might have life and have it abundantly.” Griffey interprets this scripture for her art. «Read the rest of this article»

Planters Bank’s Hilldale Gallery to feature Lynne Griffey Paintings

 

Planters BankClarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature the watercolor and oil paintings of local artist Lynne Griffey beginning the first Thursday in July.

“I am excited about the exhibit and am currently working on something new and totally different,” said Griffey. “It will be an honor to incorporate the new with the old at [Planters] bank.”

Chi Omega celebrating 40th anniversary at Austin Peay State University

 

Chi Omega SororityClarksville, TN – The Sigma Kappa chapter of Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity at Austin Peay State University turns 40 this year. And the hundreds of members initiated into this chapter over the last four decades are invited to reunite with their sisters to help commemorate the occasion.
