Mallory Burman’s four-goal day powers Clarksville Academy Soccer past Northwest High School 7-2

 

Clarksville AcademyNorthwest High School VikingsClarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy’s senior midfielder Mallory Burman turned a hat-trick in the first half, August 29th at Winn Field, before adding a fourth goal after intermission to lead the Lady Cougars past Northwest High School, 7-2.

For Burman, who has verbally committed to Austin Peay State University as a 2014 recruit, the hat-trick came on the first three goals of the match for Clarksville Academy, (3-2).

Clarksville Academy Soccer records shutout win versus Kenwood High School

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville,TN – Controlling play from the beginning whistle, Clarksville Academy’s girls soccer team even their seasons record to 1-1 overall, as they shutout Kenwood High School Lady Knights, 4-0, August 21st at Winn Field.

The Lady Cougars scored two goals in each half, while out shooting the Lady Knights (0-1) 29-5 overall and 18-3 in shots-on-goal.

“It was nice to out here after a loss (August 18th to Northeast High School) and control play and the possession,” Clarksville Academy coach Mary Beth Burchett said. “Plus we were able to get four goals by four different people. That’s always nice to see as a coach.”

Lady Govs golf team earns OVC Team Academic Achievement Award for third straight year

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For a third straight year, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team has been saluted with the Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Achievement Award.

The award is presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution’s team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade-point average or higher—OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.  The Lady Govs golf team had seven of its student-athletes earn such distinction. As a team the Lady Govs golfers posted a 3.738 grade-point average in the fall and 3.640 in the spring. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school is excited to announce Jake Peterson as the Head Varsity Golf Coach and Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach. Head of Schools Kay Drew, announced Monday, August 2, 2010 that Jake Peterson would join the Clarksville Academy family as Head Varsity Golf Coach & Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach. Peterson joins CA after enjoying great success as an Assistant Baseball Coach. Drew said, “I am very pleased that we have Coach Peterson joining Clarksville Academy.  He is an extremely talented baseball coach and a golf enthusiast.  I have no doubt that his positive coaching style and strong organizational skills will continue to advance our athletic programs.”

Peterson grew up in Denver, Colorado and enjoyed success as a player on the high school baseball, golf and basketball teams. He received a baseball scholarship to Independence Community College in Kansas and then transferred to Austin Peay State University on scholarship. While at APSU, he was on the OVC Championship team in 2004 and 2005 and he was named to the All OVC Team for 2005. Peterson graduated from APSU with a Bachelors in Health & Human Performance and a Masters of Sports Administration and Wellness. Peterson was employed by APSU as the Hitting Coach and the Infield/Outfield Coach for five years. «Read the rest of this article»

APSU earns 11 OVC Medals of Honor; two team captured OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsAustin Peay State University student-athletes earned 11 Ohio Valley Conference Medals of Honor while two teams, women’s golf and men’s tennis, captured OVC Team Academic Awards, announced Thursday by the conference office.

The Medal of Honor is awarded annually to student-athletes who achieve the highest grade-point average in a conference-sponsored sport.  Each one of the APSU recipients held a 4.0 grade-point average in their respective sport for the year.  Heading the list is a pair of senior women’s track and field ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans, Carrie Burggraf (first team) and Shamai Larsen (second team).
