Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior center Chris Horton, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Horton averaged a double-double last week in three games, posting 17.0 points on 75 percent shooting (18-for-24) and pulling in 10.3 rebounds—including double-doubles against Cal Poly and Northern Colorado.

APSU Governors Basketball beat Northern Colorado Bears for seasons first win

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUGreeley, CO – The stats will show Austin Peay State University’s offensive effort was stellar, Sunday, in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational consolation game against Northern Colorado. The Governors scored more than 90 points and shot 60 percent or better from the floor in each half.

But in the 91-76 victory at the Bank of Colorado Arena it was the Governors’ second-half defensive effort that head coach Dave Loos saluted as APSU finally captured its first 2015-16 verdict—and a road victory at that—in improving to 1-4.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUGreeley, CO – Impatience down the stretch has Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team entering Sunday still seeking its first win of the 2015-16 season.

After rallying to trail Cal Poly 64-61 with 4:41 left in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational regional second-round contest, the Governors committed five turnovers and failed to convert a field goal in the closing minutes as APSU fell 73-64, Saturday afternoon.

APSU Governors Basketball comes up short against IP-Fort Wayne Mastodons

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Redshirt freshman guard John Konchar scored a career-high 28 points while point guard Mo Evans added 20 and seven assists to lead IP-Fort Wayne to an 80-77 victory against Austin Peay State University, Wednesday night, in the Governors’ home-opening basketball game.

The loss leaves the Govs 0-3 overall while IPFW improved to 2-1, gaining its season’s first road victory.

Austin Peay hung with 15th-ranked Indiana for much of the first half and the early portion of the final before the high-octane Hoosiers converted 15 consecutive shots to pull away for a 102-76 victory in opening-round action of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.

APSU Governors Basketball fall to high powered Vanderbilt Commodores

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University found out why Vanderbilt is a preseason Top 20 team, Friday night. In fact, the Commodores scored the game’s first 21 points as the Governors fell, 80-41, in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.

The contest was the season opener for both clubs and it was evident the No. 18/No. 20 Commodores were in midseason form.
