Nashville, TN – Commissioner Bill Gibbons and Colonel Tracy Trott have announced the creation of a special bureau to oversee the units and divisions of the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) responsible for the safety of citizens, government officials, state employees and state facilities.
The new Protective Services and Special Programs Bureau encompasses the Executive Protection Unit, the Capitol Protection Unit, a new State Facility Protection Unit, the Special Programs Unit, and the Handgun Unit.
Cunningham, TN – The Clarksville area continues to prove it has some of the best junior golfers in the state of Tennessee, with Montgomery Central High School standout Tyler Britt signing to continue his golf career at the collegiate level with the Bethel University Wildcats in McKenzie, TN.
Britt, who will graduate in May with honors, has played as the number one golfer for the Indians the past four years — including having a team-best 39.5 average per nine holes this past fall, earning second-team all-area honor. Overall, Britt is a four-handicap, with a 75 average on 18 holes.
Clarksville, TN – It was a good day for Clarksville Academy’s golf program, September 9th at Swan Lake Golf Course, with the girls team repeating as District 10-A tournament champions; while the boys team finishing runner-up to Lipscomb Academy.
With the championship and runner-up finish, the two squads will advance to the September 15th Region 5-A tournament at the Champions Run Golf Course, in Rockvale, TN.
Clarksville High School students to compete in State-Wide Poetry Contest at Austin Peay State University
Nashville, TN – Along with 14 other Tennessee schools, students from Antioch High School, Franklin Road Academy, Overton High School, Battleground Academy, Fairview High School, John Paul II High School, Clarksville High School and Cookeville High School will participate in the 2014 Tennessee Poetry Out Loud State contest.
Nashville, TN – Clarksville Academy’s girls golf team had no problem repeating as District 10-A tournament champions, September 16th at the Ted Rhoades Golf Course, as Anna Michelle Moore and Bailey Foote posted the two lowest scores in the Lady Cougars winning by 46 shots over runner-up Lipscomb Academy.
On the boys side, Clarksville Academy team finished sixth, but freshman Austin Cherry will advance to next week’s regional tournament as one of the five low individual qualifiers.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Major, Three Captains among those Recognized
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security officials formally recognized six recent promotions in a special ceremony Tuesday at the Tennessee Highway Patrol Training Center in Nashville.

Girls High School Basketball Roundup: Rossview and No. 3 Clarksville High grab District 10-AAA victories
The Rossview Lady Hawks beat Northeast 68-32 at the Eagles Nest. Clarksville High toppled West Creek 69-28 at the WCHS gym. Clarksville Academy lost its District 10-A game to McEwen 54-26.
No. 5 Northeast was able beat to Rossview 70-48. West Creek surprised Clarksville High with a 47-45. Kenwood won over Northwest 63-28. Clarksville Academy lost to McEwen 58-33.
