Tennessee Department of Education releases 2019 TNReady Results

 

Tennessee Department of EducationNashville, TN –  The Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has released the TNReady assessment results which indicates that students across the state are performing better in almost all math subjects. 

The TNReady scores also show that more than half the schools in Tennessee – 56 percent – improved their growth scores (TVAAS scores) from the previous year, with 41 percent of all schools earning a level 4 or 5 TVAAS rating which measures year-to-year growth.

Tennessee Department of Veterans Services says Remains of Hawkins County Soldier Killed in World War II Identified

Tennessee Department of Veterans ServicesNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. Army Private First Class Lewis Price of Rogersville, who was reported missing as of November 6th, 1944 during World War II. 

The Hawkins County native was assigned to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division during weeks of combat in the Hurtgen Forest in Germany.  Price was 23-years old when he went missing.

TBI Fugitive Gary Simpson from Rogersville captured in Hawkins County

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – A Rogersville man who was added to the TBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list Thursday was captured later that afternoon in Hawkins County.

Gary Simpson, 57, was wanted by the Rogersville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for Especially Aggravated Kidnapping.

On May 4th, Simpson kidnapped 9-year-old Carlie Marie Trent from school.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issues Amber Alert for missing 9 year old Carlie Trent

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationRogersville, TN – A Middle and East Tennessee AMBER Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on behalf of the Rogersville Police Department for 9-year-old Carlie Marie Trent.

Carlie was removed from school yesterday by her uncle by marriage, Gary Simpson, under false pretenses. He has no custodial rights to Carlie. Currently their whereabouts are unknown.

Carlie is 4’8″ tall, weighs 75 lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black and grey tank top and blue jeans.
