Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball falls to #16/#18 Kentucky at SEC Tournament, 86-65

 

UT Lady VolsGreenville, SC – Tennessee Lady Vols basketball freshman Jordan Horston poured in a career-high 24 points, but it wasn’t enough to fend off a hot-handed #16/18 Kentucky team that shot 51 percent from the floor to seize an 86-65 victory in a No. 3 seed vs. No. 6 seed match-up  in the SEC Tournament Third Round on Friday night.
 
Junior Rennia Davis and senior Lou Brown were also in double figures for Tennessee (21-10), posting 14 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Kentucky (22-7) was led by Rhyne Howard who finished with 24 points, Tatyana Wyatt with 14 and Sabrina Haines with 12.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball takes on #16/#18 Kentucky in third round of SEC Tournament, tonight

UT Lady VolsGreenville, SC – #RV/NR Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team (21-9, 10-6 SEC), the No. 6 seed, will meet No. 3 seed and #16/18 Kentucky (21-7, 10-6 SEC) on Friday at approximately 7:15pm CT in the third round of the 2020 SEC Tournament at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

The Lady Vols advanced to the third round by coming from 13 down to defeat No. 11 seed Missouri, 64-51, on Thursday night. UT now has won four straight games. The Lady Vols have come from behind 14 times in the 22 games they’ve trailed this season, and the 13-point deficit was the biggest they’ve erased to win this year and biggest since flipping the script on a 20-point, third-quarter hole vs. Stetson last year.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball comes up short at Kentucky, 80-76

 

UT Lady VolsLexington, KY – No. 22/23 Tennessee Women’s basketball’s Rennia Davis turned in a 27-point performance, but it wasn’t enough to pull off the upset bid over No. 13/13 Kentucky as the Lady Vols fell in Memorial Gymnasium on Sunday, 80-76.
 
Also in double figures for Tennessee (11-3, 1-1 SEC) were sophomore Rae Burrell,who finished with 16 points and six rebounds, and freshman Jordan Horston, who posted 13 points and a career-high nine assists.
 
UK (12-2, 1-1 SEC) was led by Rhyne Howard with 37 points and nine rebounds, while Sabrina Haines added 11.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 22/23 Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team (11-2, 1-0 SEC) makes the trip up I-75 for its first SEC road contest of the season, a Sunday matinee in Lexington at Memorial Coliseum vs. No. 13/13 Kentucky (11-2, 0-1 SEC). Tip-off is slated for 3:02pm CT. 

This will mark the 68th meeting between these programs, with the Lady Vols leading the series, 55-12. 

Tennessee popped the top on the SEC portion of its schedule on Thursday night, overcoming a five-point, first-quarter deficit to topple Missouri, 77-66, at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville.

UT led by as many as 18 points in the contest. The win provided first-year Lady Vol head coach Kellie Harper a victory in her SEC debut.
