Tennessee Wildlife Federation, Conservation Community Asks Public to Save Symphony Grounds, Urban Wildlife

 

Tennessee Wildlife FederationNashville, TN – In a campaign launched by Tennessee Wildlife Federation, nonprofits in the conservation community are calling on bird lovers and music lovers alike to help the region’s purple martins have an uninterrupted migration by making a donation in support of the Nashville Symphony’s downtown home at tnwf.org/purple

Donations will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $5,000, by Tennessee Wildlife Federation and The Nature Conservancy in Tennessee.

An estimated 150,000 purple martins are roosting in the trees surrounding Schermerhorn Symphony Center, home of the Nashville Symphony, as they gather before migrating to South America.

The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to have the 19th overall selection and six total picks in the draft, which opens with the first round on Thursday, April 25th at 7:00pm Rounds 2 and 3 are set for Friday, April 26th, beginning at 6:00pm, and the draft concludes with Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 27th, at 11:00am (all times central).

Austin Peay State University choral activities gain International Reputation

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In early February, Dr. Korre Foster, director of choral activities at Austin Peay State University, turned on his computer to watch a live broadcast of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (TMC).

The acclaimed, 100-year-old choir is one of the largest and most respected choral organizations in Canada, but that evening, Foster was more interested in watching one of the guest conductors – APSU graduate student Zach Thompson.

Austin Peay State University choral program continues busy season with October 22nd Concert

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – This fall is shaping up to be a busy semester for Austin Peay State University Choral Activities. In early September, the University’s three choral groups – Vocal Ease, University Choir and Chamber Singers – performed for the Tennessee Board of Regents dinner at APSU.

A few weeks later, the Chamber Singers traveled to Nashville for a performance at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center as part of the Nashville Symphony’s Free Day of Music event.

Nashville, TN – The Roys were named Inspirational Bluegrass Artist of the Year during tonight’s 17th Annual ICM Faith, Family & Country Awards show.  Siblings Lee and Elaine performed “That’s What Makes It Love,” with special guests Ricky Skaggs and The Whites, before a sold-out crowd.

The song is from The Roys’ current CD, “Lonesome Whistle”, which was recorded at Skaggs Place Studio and released in March on Rural Rhythm Records. The Awards show was held at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, and co-hosted by GAC-TV’s Storme Warren and Inside Edition’s Megan Alexander.
