SpiritFest offers Family Fun Activities before Clarksville’s Lighted Christmas Parade

Clarksville's SpiritfestClarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 2nd, 2017, the 3rd Annual SpiritFest, a holiday event, will offer a bounty of free activities, including visits with Santa Claus, rides on the International Express Bus, four kids’ inflatables, live music on the new Downtown Commons stage, ice skating, art and gift markets, food trucks and a live nativity with animals. SpiritFest begins at 2:00pm and runs until 5:00pm.

It will start three hours before Clarksville’s 58th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade, which will pass by its location in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

SpiritFest, a free “Pre-Parade Celebration of Christmas,” will feature kids’ inflatables, Santa Claus, complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, Christmas music performances by multiple groups, a live nativity including animals, food trucks and two art and gift markets.

Clarksville Transit System unveils bus wrapped in anti-smoking messages

 

City of Clarksville, Montgomery County Health Department collaborate on Teen Anti-Tobacco Program

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Officials from the City of Clarksville, Clarksville Transit Service and the Montgomery County Health Department joined together at City Hall on Monday to unveil a CTS bus wrapped in several huge anti-smoking messages.

The “rolling billboard” offers slogans and graphics of athletes that are targeted at teen-agers, and make the case that tobacco use is a losing game.

Mayor Kim McMillan, CTS Director Arthur Bing Sr., MCHD Director Joey Smith and members of the MCHD Heath Education Team join in the unveiling of a CTS bus newly wrapped in anti-smoking messages. Funding for the effort comes from the Tennessee Health Department’s allocation of money from a tobacco lawsuit settlement.

City votes on Clarksville’s Best for the March of Dimes

 

Best of Clarksville PosterClarksville, TN – The Best of Clarksville fundraiser for the March of Dimes is eagerly awaited each year by both businesses and area residents. The fundraiser this year featured 140 businesses in 65 categories; each one looking to score the votes of area residents to be declared The Best of Clarksville. The event consists of local vendor booths, silent auctions, dance performances, free give-a-ways, and a fireworks show by Allen’s Fireworks. All of the money raised is donated to the March of Dimes.

Matthews Nissan Suzuki was the presenting sponsor. Other sponsors included Five Star Radio, Sango Village Florist, US Bank, Cumberland Bank and Trust, FedEx, Allen’s Fireworks, Ad One Advertising, WJZM 1400 AM, and The Leaf-Chronicle.
