APSU Track and Field comes in Third at OVC Outdoor Championships

 

APSU Women's Track and FieldCape Girardeau, MO – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) track and field earned a top-three finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships for the first time since 2015, placing third in the 2019 event thanks to some outstanding final-day performances.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Volleyball host league-leading Morehead State, Tuesday

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team begins its final homestand when it hosts Ohio Valley Conference-leading Morehead State in a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest at the Dunn Center.

The match is one of two teams at opposite ends of a quickly-developing OVC tournament picture. Austin Peay (7-17, 5-8 OVC) enters the week in a three-team tie for seventh place, one-half match outside of the tournament. Morehead State (17-5, 12-0 OVC) needs just one win to secure a berth and is quickly moving towards claiming a second-consecutive OVC regular-season title.

Austin Peay Governors vs. Eastern Kentucky

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – This is Austin Peay’s 39th Ohio Valley Conference season. The Govs are 93-171-2 alltime in OVC play, including 9-29 in OVC openers. The Govs won their OVC opener a year ago, 26-23, against Tennessee State.

After owning a school-record 26 seniors in 2009, the Govs had half that many (13) in 2010. This season the Govs have even fewer, eight.

Austin Peay last won a football game, 26-23, against Tennessee State, September 18th. They enter the contest amidst a 10-game losing streak.

Governors to appear in BracketBuster series for eighth time

 

APSU Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team will compete in the ninth annual BracketBusters, a three-day men’s college basketball event pitting potential NCAA Tournament hopefuls against each other February 18th-20th. It will feature 11 nationally televised games – on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU — selected from a pool of 114 teams, the largest pool in the event’s history.

It will be the eighth time—the most of any Ohio Valley Conference school—Austin Peay has played in the BracketBuster series. This year the Governors will be on the road to a yet-to-be-determined site. Last season, the Governors played host to Oral Roberts, losing 89-80. As part of the bracketBuster agreement, those two teams will play in Tulsa in the 2011-12 season. «Read the rest of this article»
