State Farm® Mutual Automobile Insurance Company Auto Rate Cut for Tennessee Customers

Bloomington, IL – State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, the largest auto insurer in Tennessee and in the nation, will cut its rates in Tennessee. As a result, its overall personal auto rate will drop by 3% percent.

The total expected state-wide savings for State Farm Mutual auto policyholders as a result of this rate decrease in Tennessee will be approximately $26.3 million.

State Farm says Rate Change to Affect Approximately 1.1 Million Policyholders.

Norman Smith Elementary School Lunchbox Donation

Clarksville, TN – It’s always nice to see how people caring and working together can make things happen. Carol Wallace, lunchroom monitor at Norman Smith Elementary School, noticed that some children were bringing food and drinks for lunch in plastic bags, which would taste better if they were chilled or cooled.

So, on her own initiative, she set out to get lunchboxes for some of the children that needed them.

State Farm reminds everyone that Lightning Safety Awareness Week is June 18th-24th

Murfreesboro, TN – The number of homeowners insurance claims from lightning strikes and electrical surges in the United States rose in 2016, compared with 2015; however, the average cost that insurers paid on those claims fell, according to a new analysis by the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.).

Tennessee is 12th on the List of Lightning Insurance Claims, Kentucky is 21st. (NOAA)

Bloomington, IL – On Thanksgiving there are more cooking fires than any other day of the year. Grease and cooking-related claims more than double on Thanksgiving Day compared to an average day in November according to State Farm.

With the popularity of turkey frying increasing, U.S. fire departments are responding to more than 1,000 fires each year in which a deep fryer is involved. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says deep fryer fires cause an average of 5 deaths, 60 injuries, and more than $15 million in property damage each year.

Oil splatters out of a fryer, causing a burst of smoke and flames that can easily burn a house, or even worse, an adult or child.

Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Announces New Chairman and Board

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce announces its 2016-17 Board of Directors.

Serving as chairman for a one-year term beginning July 1st, is Clarksville native Sidney Johnson, Wyatt Johnson Automotive Group. Johnson attended Clarksville High School, Austin Peay State University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is married with two daughters.

Sidney Johnson to serve as Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce chairman.
