Nashville Sounds fall at home to San Antonio Missions

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were leading the San Antonio Missions into the seventh inning, but allowed a three-run home run to lose the lead. The Missions added two more insurance runs in the eighth, defeating the Sounds 9-5 Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.

The first run for the Sounds came in the bottom of the first inning. Andy Ibanez hit a solo home run to left-center field, giving Nashville the early 1-0 lead.

San Antonio responded right away with a three-run second inning. Blake Allemand took the lead with one swing of the bat, hitting a bases loaded double that scored two runners. Corey Ray hit in the third run on a ground out, giving the Missions a 3-1 lead.

Slugger Adds Another Honor in 2017

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds infielder/outfielder Renato Nuñez was named to the All-Pacific Coast League team as announced by the league office today. The team is selected through voting by the league’s managers and media representatives.

The 23-year-old has paced all of Minor League Baseball with 32 home runs this season while driving in a team-high 77 runs. Nuñez is the first Sound to be recognized on the All-PCL team since Joey Wendle in 2015 and fourth in the last five seasons (Jimmy Nelson, 2014 and Johnny Hellweg, 2013).

Nashville Sounds come up short at New Orleans Zephyrs

 

Nashville SoundsNew Orleans, LA – Matt Chapman’s three-homer game wasn’t enough for the Nashville Sounds in a 6-5 loss to the New Orleans Zephyrs Saturday night at Zephyr Field.

Chapman hit a home run in each of his first three at bats to become the seventh player in Sounds (83-58) history to hit three in a single game. The 23-year-old has seven home runs in 17 games with the Sounds and 36 in 134 games between Nashville and Double-A Midland.

The last three-homer game by a Sounds player was Russell Branyan who also did it against New Orleans on May 16th, 2008. Others to accomplish the feat include Ryan Braun, Craig Wilson, Darnell Coles, Dan Pasqua and Steve Balboni.

Nashville Sounds new ballpark named “First Tennessee Park”

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN –  “First Tennessee Park” will be the official name of Nashville’s new state-of-the-art baseball ballpark in North Nashville, the Nashville Sounds Baseball Club announced today.

The new name recognizes First Tennessee Bank as the Sounds’ most significant partner as the team enters a new era of professional baseball in Middle Tennessee. First Tennessee Park is scheduled to open in April 2015.
