Sounds Blow Late Six-Run Lead, Lose 8-6

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The visiting Tucson Padres erupted for eight runs in the eighth inning for a come-from-behind 8-6 win over the Nashville Sounds  on Thursday night at Greer Stadium.

Nashville (64-62) scored six runs of the game over the first seven innings, before the eight-run outburst got the club’s biggest blown lead of the season.

The Sounds had 11 hits in the loss, led by two-hit performances by centerfielder Logan Schafer, left fielder Jordan Brown, first baseman Erick Almonte, and catcher Martin Maldonado.

River Cats Plate Late Run To Defeat Sounds In Series Opener

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds had their three-game winning streak halted on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium as the visiting Sacramento River Cats scored a run in the top of the ninth inning to post a 3-2 victory in the opener of a four-game series.

The loss was the eighth last at-bat defeat suffered this season by Nashville (12-23). The teams combined for only nine hits on the night and went just 1-for-14 combined with runners in scoring position in the game.

In the decisive ninth, Jai Miller led off by drawing a walk from Sounds reliever Donovan Hand and scored the eventual winning run one batter later when River Cats catcher Josh Donaldson followed with an RBI double off the base of the center field wall.
