APSU Sports cap impressive 2018-19 campaign with best-ever finish in OVC Commissioner’s Cup

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN –  The Austin Peay State University (APSU)s athletics department posted its best-ever finish in the 2018-19 OVC Commissioner’s Cup behind two regular-season championships and another pair of Top 3 finishes in Ohio Valley Conference play

APSU delivered its second-straight 100-point tally in the OVC Commissioner’s Cup, with its 109 points this season an improvement over last season’s 101.5 points. That total pushed the Governors to fourth among the league’s 12 members. Murray State won the 2019 competition with 128 points, its first victory since the inaugural commissioner’s cup was awarded in 2008-09. Jacksonville State finished second (115) followed by Belmont (114) and Austin Peay.

APSU Tennis coach Ross Brown gets contract extension

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison announced, Tuesday, May 7th, that tennis head coach Ross Brown has been given a contract extension. Brown is fresh off an appearance in the NCAA Tournament after Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament championships in women’s tennis.

The women’s tennis team entered the NCAA Tournament with a 22-0 record – the only undefeated program in the nation heading into the weekend.

APSU Women’s Tennis coach Ross Brown named OVC Coach of the Year, Five Govs earn All OVC Honors

 

APSU Women's TennisNashville, TN – Five members of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, along with head coach Ross Brown winning the Coach of the Year award, as announced at the conference banquet, Thursday.

Brown earns his second career OVC Coach of the Year honor, adding to the 2015 award he won with the men’s program.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Women’s Tennis completes historic undefeated regular season

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – In the long history of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletic department there have been many successes, wins, unforgettable memories, moments and championships over its many decades of competition, but this past Saturday at the Governors Tennis Center the women’s tennis team recorded the rarest or rare accomplishments by an APSU squad –an undefeated regular season.

The Governors finished the 2019 regular season 20-0, matching the only other undefeated APSU team in school history – the 1939-40 men’s basketball team – who also finished their season 20-0, including recording the program’s only victory versus Vanderbilt.
