Three Tennessee State Parks Among the Top 100 Family Friendly Fishing and Boating Destinations

 

Paris Landing, Pickwick Landing and Tims Ford Recognized by Take Me Fishing

Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – Paris Landing State Park, Pickwick Landing State Park and Tims Ford State Park were listed among the Top 100 Family Friendly Places to Boat and Fish in the U.S., according to Take Me Fishing, whose first Top 100 list was released this month. Park and recreation areas in 24 states were represented in the Top 100.

“We are thrilled to have three of our great Tennessee State Parks on the list of family-friendly boating and fishing destinations in the country,” Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill said.

TWRA and Clarksville Parks and Recreation Youth Fishing Rodeo set for Saturday, June 7th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAClarksville, TN – On Saturday, June 7th, 2014, from 8:30am until 10:30am, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) and the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will be holding the annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at the Liberty Park pond.

The event coincides with Tennessee’s annual Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 7th when anyone may fish free without a license in the state’s public waters.

TWRA announces Tennessee Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 7th, 2014

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee’s annual Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 7th when anyone may fish free without a license in the state’s public waters.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency provides the free day in hopes of increasing interest in fishing. The day allows anyone the opportunity to try this great outdoor sport, especially children. In addition, children ages 15 and younger may fish without a license beginning on Free Fishing Day through the following Friday (June 13th).

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency names Boating Officers of the Year for 2012

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Nick Luper has been named the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency 2012 Boating Officer of the Year while Tommy Stockling is honored as Part-Time Boating Officer of the Year.

The recipients of the annual awards were announced by Darren Rider, TWRA Boating and Law Enforcement Division Chief. Both officers serve in TWRA District 31, which encompasses 12 counties in northern Middle Tennessee and has popular boating and fishing destinations. The officers were presented their awards at the May meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.

2013 Youth Fishing Events scheduled throughout Tennessee

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Youth Fishing Rodeo will be held Saturday, June 8th, 2013 at the Liberty Park Pond for youth 0 to 16 years of age. The rodeo will be from 8:00am until 11:00am.

TWRA’s Youth Fishing Rodeo Seeks to Bring a Love of the Outdoors to Clarksville’s Youth

 

Clarksville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) in partnership with the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation, Grandpa’s, Walmart, Boyles Bait, and the Healing outside of a Hospital (HOOAH) Program worked together to give the youth of Clarksville an opportunity to enjoy a day of free fishing in Liberty Park.

The annual Youth Fishing Rodeo is held on the second Saturday in June to coincides with Tennessee’s Free Fishing Day and 16 and under Free Fishing Week. “This is the 11th Year that we’ve joined together with the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation, and all of our sponsors to bring the outdoors to young kids who may be fishing for the very first time,” said Montgomery County Wildlife Officer Dale Grandstaff. “There are over 400 kids gathered around the fishing pond at Liberty Park to have a great time in the great outdoors!”
