State of Tennessee to move forward with buiding Veteran’s Nursing Home in Montgomery County

 

Longtime Priority of Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson Comes to Fruition

The Seal of the State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson (R—Clarksville) today announced that the state is moving forward with a project in Montgomery County that is a natural fit for Tennessee’s military home.

A veterans’ nursing home will be constructed on nearly ten acres in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The project, long advocated for by Representative Johnson, was given final approval by the Executive Subcommittee of the State Building Commission after the Montgomery County Board of Commission authorized the conveyance of the land to the state. «Read the rest of this article»

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announces Tennessee Students continue to Improve

 

Statewide assessments show achievement gains for second year in a row

The Seal of the State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and State Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman today announced that statewide student performance on the 2012 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) improved for the second year in a row, as the state continues to push toward academic achievement through its First to the Top education reforms.

Students reached higher levels of proficiency in 23 of 24 TCAP achievement tests in grades three through eight.  Achievement also increased on most high school “End of Course” exams.

Bill Haslam, Ron Ramsey and Beth Harwell announce Judicial Selection Legislation

 

Recommending constitutional amendment and extension of Judicial Nominating Commission

The Seal of the State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey (R-Blountville) and House Speaker Beth Harwell (R-Nashville) announced a joint proposal to address how judges are chosen in Tennessee.
